Default Annoying Squeaking Noise in Suspension

Noise is coming from the front passenger and drivers side. It is starting to be embarrassing! It sounds like someone is walking over a old wooden floor. It also happens when I accelerate from 0 mph. I can get it to make the sounds in 2 ways: when I'm sitting still, I can turn the steering wheel from stop to stop and it squeaks the whole time. Also if I am driving over unlevel ground (dips, bumps, etc), it will squeak, almost like its spring related. I have 335,000 miles.

Here are the recently replaced parts list:

-Changed Steering Rack 326,000 3.19.2011
-Changed Tie Rods 326,000 3.19.2011 Honda OEM
-Changed Upper Control Arms w/ Ball Joints 328,000 4.8.2011 Moog
-Replaced front Rotors and Pads 330,900 5.7.2011
-Changed Drivers-Side Lower Ball Joint 319,000 12.31.2010 AutoZone Duralast
-Changed Passenger-Side Lower Ball Joint 322,075 1.30.2011 AutoZone Duralast
-Installed new coilovers 333,000 5.27.2011 Function Form type 1's
-Installed Anchor Camber Correction with rubber 334,000 6.18.2011 Ingalls

I jacked the car up to check everything out and it all looked normal. Turned the wheels from lock to lock, and it wasn't any noises. So I will replace the lower ball joints this week. But what makes it squeak going over humps, bumps, etc? I have also sprayed everything down with some PB Blaster and it still squeaks. Before I replaced the upper control arms, coilovers, camber correction kit, steering rack, and tie rods it squeaked a little. But now it's just ridiculous.

Any help would be appreciated.

If the end link bushings are busted replace them, I have found that the two bushings that hold the sway bar to the rear beam are the ones that make the noise. You can lube them (I recomend Dow Cornning 111) but seeing the mileage on the car it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace them. note: when lubing them only lube the part of the bushing that touches the bar not the outside part that touches the bracket.

They just need to be greased, unless they are bad.

As a precaution, since my car has seen more than 300,000+ miles, I will just replace it. It's very inexpensive.

dude i have the exact same deal with my girlfriends car. 245,900miles. done everything u have minus the rack. i have had several mechanics tell me change the struts, one being a honda mechanic. gonna try that soon. my 96 civic hatch sounded like loose change under the rear seat. changed the sruts to kyb's and no more jingle. i was hoping it was loose change haha. good luck

Good Luck with that rack! Since a storm just flew threw here and the rain has stoped, I might just attempt it tonight. I will just be lubing the bushings, but replacing the links for just tonight. I will report back my findings.

Replaced sway bar links and lubed the sway bar bushings and its still squeaking!
The sway bar bushings look good, if not that, excellent. They must have been replaced before I received this car. So the only other thing I think it could be is the lower control arm bushings. Everything else has been replaced!

I installed new full coilovers 5.22.11. I did inspect them but they ride smooth. Also, the noise was starting before I got the coilovers. i thought it was the shocks, but was planning to replace those anyways. They were worn.

I'm still in the noisy, squeaky Accord! The only other items it could be is the shocks or lower control arm bushings. I'm going to lube the shocks sometime this week and see where it goes.

If you installed coilovers already, I can't imagine them being blown already unless you bought some cheap ebay stuff. However, if it does it when going over speedbumps, then it could be.

Is it safe to assume you meant "coils" not "coilovers" ? If so, then it's probably the shock being blown afterall.

I installed Function Form Type 1 coilovers, not the cheapo ebays. I just installed them this past May.

You said you lubed up the sway bar bushings but did you lube up the sway bar links as well ? They say to lube up just the bushings in the links but i just lube up everything in there even where the bushings meet the spacers and that fixed my squeaking before.

Sway bar bushings.
Upper control arm bushings.
Lower shock bushings.
Lower control arm bushings.
Upper control arm bushings. (there are two on each side)
Radius rod bushings. (Not likely)

These are all likely suspects. your suspension has a lot of bushings.

Sway bar bushings. Lubed and in good condition
Upper control arm bushings. Replaced with Moog
Lower shock bushings. Not replaced

So today has been interesting in my fight to get rid of the squeak.

So I swapped my Ingall anchor camber kit back to the Moog bushings and lubed them very well. The squeak was gone instantly, then reappeared within minutes! So I know it's not the upper control arm bushings or upper ball joint. The only thing left to replace would be the lower control arm and it's bushings. Since these have to be pressed in, I will be going to the local pull n save and pulling the entire lower control arm and swapping it onto my car to see if this changes anything. If the squeak disappears, I will buy new bushings for my control arm. This has been a journey!

Stay tuned.
