Default You said rod! heh heh heh.

I've got a little bit of inner tie rod play, and I'd like to replace them. Along with them, if costs are good enough, I'll go outers and Rack boots.

What special tools will I need to take these out? I don't wanna get the car in the air and halfway taken apart only to find out that I need something I don't have.

I've seen people use these special sockets, they look more like pipe, they're REALLY deep... but then again, I've only seen em used on Fords, and we all know how fucked up those Domestics are, especially Ford.

While I'm at it, I might as well get new brake rotors. I turned them WAY too thin last time I did em, and they're warped to hell. That's probably why the tie rods are wearing out. Hit the brakes and the whole front end rattles.

all i used was some wrenches, ratchets, and a few sockets. I jus re-did my inner and outer tie rod ends. let me tell ya, its a whole lot easier to do if you drop the rack down. i didn't need to use any sort of special tools at all.

So what's left of the rack after removing the inner tie rods. I've never removed the boot before. Just a flat nub with a threaded hole?

Should I use lock tite on the threads that hold the inner tie rod to the rack? Is there a torque specification or just crank it in and it'll be good?
