problems with CC stage 5 clutch kit, again!!
I Bought this cc stage5 clutch kit with the ultra light flywheel brand new from one of CC dealer. I first had this clutch kit on a all motor 2.1L B-series engine and it wouldn't let me go in gears at high rpm. I try to adjust the pedal a dozen times and it did not do the trick. I Thought maybe it was something with the big 95mm crank it had in the 2.1L engine, so took out the cc stage5 clutch kit and put it on my 84x89 turbo Motor, now i am still having the same problem, it shifts fine on normal low rpm driving, but when punching it wont let me go into gear at high rpm. The transmission for a fact works good because I tryed it with a different clutch kit and it shifts smoothly at high rpm, no high rpm lockout or anything. I am believing that it has something to do with the Competition stage 5 clutch kit. I need to solve this problem before my next race event. thanks
Sounds like you might have the wrong throw out bearing. I had that same issue with my O.S. Giken single plate. I pulled it and gave it to my friend who had it checked out and found out it was the throw out bearing. So he rebuilt the clutch, bought the correct throw out bearing, threw it on his car, dyno'ed it, and ran a few events. It held 740hp with no probs after the correct throw out bearing.
My current clutch now is the same one you have, I have no issues with it.

I am having the same problem as the OP. I have a CC 2300 (stage 3) and ST flywheel in my built b18c with what WAS a near new USDM ITR trans. Ever since the install I have had gear lock out in 2nd and 4th and bad grinding in 3rd. Before the install the factory GSR clutch and flywheel allowed 9000rpm shifting with no issues. I am a certified Acura technician and I can assure the install was done properly with appropriate torque specs.
Hyper16-Johnny, I do not understand the reasoning for the problem being the incorrect throw-out bearing. I compared the bearing supplied in the CC kit to a near new OEM honda bearing and they were identical, which was to be expected since a b-series throw-out bearing is just a bearing. How is anyone, regardless of their technical experience, able to differentiate between a correct and incorrect bearing if they are identical and how is anyone supposed to order or come across the correct bearing if the one being used is let's say "incorrect". Sorry, I just cannot justify that answer, but i understand that you stated this was what worked in YOUR situation.
anyone else experiencing and correcting this issue is appreciated, considering i've now wrecked my ITR trans after 6 passes at the track. I have read and heard plenty of good opinions of CC clutches and successful applications although my experience is less than satisfactory, to the point where switching clutches is my only option.

Let me know or post in this thread if you have any luck with customer service. I did not buy my clutch directly through CC, but I am sure they can address the situation since my kit was brand new aswell.
Customer service was ok IMO, I spoke with Dan and then he transfer me to another guy who was welling to help. Im still waiting on my email reply, they are suppose to send me some info so i can print it out and put it onto the box with the clutch kit that im sending back to them. hopefully it wont be long before he replys back to me, I am doing everything i can on my part so I hope they are trying as well.

I shipped it out last week and so Yesterday I decided to call and check for the update. I was kinda dissapointed at first but I guess it turn out ok at the end of the conversation.
I called and was told to hold for about a good 20 mins, Dont know what was going on over there and was kinda **** about having to hold for that long, then dude got on the phone and told me that they shipped out a replacement kit already, so i was like, right on dude!
I then ask him what was wrong with the old clutch kit and the guy was like uhhhh there was something wrong but I dont really know, I dont have the paper work with me, but I can call u back to let you know. Dude never called back !!

sorry havent update this but I couldnt be more happier with CC customer service, I sent the clutch in and about a week later I recieved a New kit at my door, then the person i am having lots of ideas decide to change the non-sprung disc to a sprung one and contacted CC again and they were absolutely fine with changing that for me. So im currently waiting to see if they will send me the sprung disc. 2 thumbs up as of now!
Son of a snitch.. I was just having the same problem with my sprung CC stage 5 on the dyno on Friday. What the hell is up with these things?? It seems like a trend that CC should probably look in to. Had I known this I wouldn't have ordered a same replacement and went with an alternative instead. It's about to go back on the dyno with the new clutch tonight so we'll see.

No, the car was previously modified and the CC stage 5 installed. According to the previous owner the build was fresh and hadn't been tracked so that's all I had to go off of. I drove the car about 60 miles but not at high speed and then had to deploy. I didn't feel any problems when I drove it before deployment, but as soon as I returned I blew my center diff. We attributed it to the rear end setup and alignment after we blew a second center diff on the dyno. The clutch wasn't noticed until the second dyno run and then on a road test afterward. Once we pulled it, we noticed a crack in the bell housing and further damage to my H2B adapter plate. After speaking with the guys at the shop, they said they have the same problems with their H-series clutch on their track car and seen it on various others so they don't think its a CC b-series stage 5 specific problem. We didn't see the problem prior to ordering the new clutch, it was ordered prior to pulling it apart. We'll see what happens in the future. Any more problems and i'll post it. Dyno run last night was unsuccessful due to a loss of electrical power, trying again today.
wel im crossing my fingers and hope this replacement kit works out, but it would be really nice if someone from Competition Clutch can shed a light on this thread as to why people are having problems with the CC clutch kits!
Update:
Im still getting the same high rpm lockout even with this new CC replacement kit I just got!!! Man whats up with Competition Clutches??
Prior to this I was using an old ACT 6 puck and a Organic exedy Pressure plate to drive on and it was able to **** at 8500rpm no problem!

oem hard line
pedal is about 6 inch off the floor/wall, and about 1 inch pedal free play
it shifts perfect on high rpm with a different clutch kit, but soon as i get this Comp. Clutch kit in, it locks out at high rpm.
I know each setup is individual tested before shipping after you send a kit back under warranty.
did you hang the transmission on the disc during installation?
