Default Transmission advice

My sister owns a 2001 Honda Accord Ex 4 cylinder with the crappy auto transmission. First off, this was repaired by Honda and then it went bad. It has bee sitting for aprroximately 2 months. We are trying to figure out if it's even worth it to get a new transmission in the hopes that it won't come back. Or are we better off selling the car for parts. The vehicle has close to 300k. Does anyone knoe if Honda is still doing the repairs under warranty?

Honda is not repairing those transmissions under warranty. It's not worth putting in another auto tranny. At almost 300k miles, the Honda has done her job.

Move on, sell the car or part it out...

300k on one transmission is pretty damn good. I wouldn't consider that "crappy transmission". Did you find out price of new transmission and labor? I would lean more towards finding a new car.

300k? Don't waste your time. Not unless you feel like redoing most of the car.

When did the Honda rebuilt unit fail? How many miles ago?

@madmike, the tranny was serviced by honda @150k. The auto tranny would shift to a lower gear on its own and could not be switched with the shifter. As I recall, Honda had service bulletin on 2001 auto 4 cylinders. After service, it did it again. Not sure if in this case all trannys are created equal.

It's crappy cuz it has a mind of its own. It will downshift and you can't put it back into drive or overdrive.
