how to spend 11k
I just won 2011 Civic Si!! First off Im a Jeep guy and out of my area of expertise I have decided to keep it and I have $11k to put into it and I would love to heir what u would do? I would like to set it up for the SCCA Production EP Class. I can do most of the work and I have a friend that are Nissan mechanic that can help with the rest so I wont have to pay for labor. The dealership let me pick Wheels and tires Enkei PF01 18s raped with Dunlop DIREZZA DZ101 Tires. Im also leaving it Blue so no paint just Engine Tranny Suspension.

Having no track experience and then dumping $11K into a brand-new car to run in a production class is a terrible idea. Out of all the classes, why did you pick that one to move towards?
Please read the FAQ, pay close attention to the "HPDE" section and go from there. I would suggest leaving the car 100% stock and saving the $11K. Spend it incrementally on track days, or a cage, comp school, and however many event entry fees if you're just dying to jump into wheel-to-wheel stuff.

Step 1. Go to www.drivenasa.com.
Step 2. Find an event near you.
Step 3. Register for a membership and said event.
Step 4. Run event and see if you like high performance driving. If you do, proceed to step 5.
Step 5. Continue running events with NASA and working your way up the HPDE ladder system. As you develop your driving skill, you'll also need to improve your car. That will be brakes (pads to start), suspension, tires, power, etc. At some point, you may even want to get into a full on race car and there are MANY very good race cars well above your driving ability for under $11K.
Most importantly, have fun and be safe!

Welcome to HT. How did you win the civic? I've got a cj5 and do some rockclimbing myself. There's a lot of good info in this forum but you have to search instead of asking. I'd recomend keeping the car as is and having fun with a few track days before buying parts. Find out how you'd like to improve the car after learning how to drive it.

definately the 100% best way to go about things. No one wants a 'racer' out with them that has never even driven on track. do some DE's and get familiar with driving on track and the skills associated with it.

hey welcome to the honda world. a few things that you can do that will help you enjoy the car more everyday and help on the track. start with some stiffer lower springs (should be the very least 8kfrt and 6krr thatll give you better handling but is still very streetable) and get some swaybars if it doesnt have any (rear should be bigger than front (that will be argued about also)). hondata/tune is a good thing too itll give you more power and probably better gas milage and will already be there when you add stuff later. do research into proven bolt ons the kseries are kinda peticular with whats added to them.
