Mugen DC2 Air Filter Replacement Question
I searched and I discovered that K&N Filter E-0945 would be the closest match to the air filter that the intake comes with.
The reason I ask is because I recently bought a used DC2 Mugen Air Intake system and it is in mint condition. The only thing that needed some cleaning was the air filter element and I purchased the K&N restorer kit and it came out looking very good.
I'm the kind of person that likes to have things handy just in case anything happens so that is why I'm looking to just either buy a close match from K&N or go straight to King and get a new one ( also during my searching I discovered that you cannot simply order a direct replacement through K&N, something about Mugen not authorizing it or something ?)
I tracked down a E-0945 filter and it is a very close match indeed. The only thing that prevents an almost perfect match is that the base rubber lip makes it about an inch wider than the one that Mugen provided with the intake. Is it okay to trim the rubber to suit ? Has anyone trimmed E-0945 and ran it without any problems? Any opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

AFE makes the Mugen filters. I used to have that part# saved but I cant seem to find it right now. It wasnt cheap, I do recall that.
If you contact King they may be able to get them still or point you in the right direction as well.

I searched for 17220-XGS-0000 and found it here: http://www.nengun.com/mugen/intake-honda-integra-dc2 at a steep $192. Not sure who else just sells the filter.
