Default 2012 SI

Well I did it, I went to the local honda dealer to look at new civics again, and talked to a sales person, found out a 2012 Si is being built this week it now has my name on it.

I get first crack at it, and do not have to buy it if I don't like the way it looks.

I hope I like it.

Don't worry....i'm sure the salesman will talk you right into that car and you'll be halfway home before you even realize what happened.

It wouldn't matter I would just do what I do to everything else I buy, drive it for a few months and sell it.

I figure the civic is the lowest cost car I was contemplating, I looked at camaro's mustangs and some more corvettes.

In fact bought a 2010 camaro ss, had the check in my hand ready to go pick it up the next morning, ran a car fax and found out the car had a much bigger accident than I was let in on at the dealer.

On the way home from getting my deposit back, I did drive a 2012 6 cyl, mustang and was offered a decent deal on that.

In the meantime I still have the 03 corvette conv, I got when I got rid of the SI last winter I have that up for sale now.

Nothing I buy ever sticks around with me, I get in and get out of them while I can make some money, if I loose some money on any car, it's just the cost of using it.

yea but the exhaust manifold is welded to the head making a header not doable unless you swap heads

Honda and Nissan are pushing for these types of things. I've read this new civic is just plain slow. The OP will be better off buying a new Toyota Camry.

Is it really that great? 7200RPM Redline, Integrated Manifold, only 5 more HP from the + .4L?

Sorry but those don't look like selling points to me. All I see is a strange looking 8th gen with a TL motor.

I was just at the dealership yesterday with a friend that is looking a 2012 EX. They only had two and had him do a radius search for ones in different colors. The only ones he could find in a 5 state radius were silver ex's.

He said that all the electrical components come from the Japan plant which was closed down currently. Stated that it will be at least a few weeks before back up, probably the beginning of August. At that point he said they would be focusing on the LX/EX as that's their highest seller. States that he wouldn't expect any Si's to be built for at least a few months, maybe even till Jan.

TL is a 3.5 6cyl FYI... what you mean is a TSX engine...

Also there wasn't much gain in hp but there was 30 more usual torque the 8th gen civic.

Not saying one is better but the 9th gen was really created for the people who were complaining about Honda don't have enough low end torque and such... One thing to note is the 9th gen Si is 18 pounds lighter...

The dealer I go to is Motor World, I have see at least 50 to 100 Lx Ex coupes and sedans since they started hitting the lots, I was there yesterday and a red coupe came in.

There are quite a few Polished Metal, Black, and Silver coups in EX and EXL everything I saw so far were automatics.

Polished Metal is the color I see most, I really liked the red coupe it looks much better in person than it does on the net, but I like red anything.

Black looks excellent I like how all the plastic pieces just blend into the car.

It seems car maker's is going this route Mustang and Camaro on the new V6's have the same setup, I saw a video of fords V6 with a cut away showing this in head exhaust.

Must be cheaper to make and gives them better numbers for the EPA requirements, I'm guessing.

You guys forgot to mention has vtec only on intake cam, no other trannys bolt up to the block(uses rdx style bellhousing pattern), and from what i have found, no other heads bolt up to it. This car is a bucket(atleast for people who wish to mod the car)

Yeah they had one powder blue LX, and two silver EX's. The ones he pulled up within Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia were all silver. I however found a polished metal one listed online, but not sure if it's actually there. All are automatics.

I haven't seen a manual yet, I did see a polished metal manual lx listed at a dealer that is about 50 miles from me but that is it. Ray Price Honda.

That red car I saw either just evaporated or sold before it hit the lot, I asked the sales people about it and they said we don't know anything until they put them on the lot.

This honda dealer is just part of about 10 dealerships in one place cars go in and out of here very fast.

These people told me the build date on this SI is around july 21, they also told me they would call as soon as they knew something about it.

If that is true about Jan. I will be going to the dealer getting my deposit back at the end of the month.

I'm not taking delivery in the winter months, I want time to under coat the body and I want to make sure it's good and dry before I do it.

Just passing through and noticed this post. I have a 2004 accord coupe V6 and it also has the integrated heads. Seems like honda is stepping away from the old days completely where their stock cars were great and replacing them with this "better" technology.

I'm disappointed too, but lets be rational lol (besides compared to the last, the new tc is trash too =\)
gotta cross our fingers and hope some aftermarket companies will play with the new civic and develop some parts. New cams, anyone?
