Smarter to go boosted B16 or boosted ZC.....
I tried the hybrid forum and got 0 replies, so maybe I'll have better luck here.....
I have been planning boosted B16 for a long time, with a power goal of 350 or so.
Would it be smarter (read more cost effective) for me to go boosted ZC?
I mean, I'm pretty sure it would be cheaper for the same amount of power, but I'm not 100% sure on what I can use that I already have.
It would be going in a 90 CRX Si, so I can use the existing mounts, tranny, wiring?, but I need to change the ECU?
I know I need to convert to OBD1 to boost it.
On the other hand, it won't get boosted anytime soon, so I may as well just go with the B16 to get the extra oomph over the ZC to keep me happy until I can get everything I need to properly boost it.
Thoughts?

ZC FTW! You can do it alot cheaper than a B16 and also you can always stay OBD0 and run Turboedit (it has alot of great features and easy to use now), save some more money.
I would, but I pretty much can't source any of the parts locally, so by the time all is said and done I'll have alot more into it.
I'm going to call around today and see if there's anything in a yard anywhere that I can go and cannibalize, but I haven't seen anything worthwhile lately.

OP if you want to have fun and save money, LS-T is your best bet. A bone stock LS will meet your goals for horsepower and you cheap budget at the same time. Converting to OBD-1 is preferable for those goals, but not a necessity. Either way, I think it would be wise to do the swap first (electrical and mechanical) to check for reliability or unforseen issues. Then add the turbo later... otherwise stick with your ZC and save the most money upfront, but you won't easily meet your power goals without more money on the back end.

So if I go LS when the time comes, what am I going to have to do to it to get a safe 350 when I boost it?
Pistons, rods, cams, valves, springs, etc.?

I know what I say and how I say it; it's purposeful so as to not waste my time - unless I am having fun belittling people that is... If you go to the LS-T thread in the Forced Induction forum you will see PAGES of people putting down numbers as high as 400whp on "BONE STOCK" LS engines... I have one myself... It's the most underrated engine out there. They have lower compression than most Honda engines from the factory. With the best gearing from the USDM - LS transmission.
(Better go buy me a few dozen right now so when kids catch on, I can make a small fortune.)
I like my boosted b16 get the right Turbo you'll be fine I'm running a bullseye power super 50 with regrounded type r cams id1000 and tuned on Neptune Rtp demon makes for a very responsive motoe

You would have to do internals for the zc to handle 350, 280 is usually where the ringlands decide they dont like you anymore... Ive seen b's and h's run close to 400whp on stock internals no problem..
