Has this happen to you or is this right????
I needed new tires and i needed them fast so i went to Firestone. Since i will travel for little bit i got me cheap tires. After everything was done and over with i went back home and washed my car, and i notice scratch and paint chip on my all 4 rims!!!
Now my car has 12 miles on them so i was pissed. Talked to the manager and he was like "it is impossible to do a tires change without chiping 'painted' rims because of weight thingy and etc..."
I told him i will talk to some people and get back with him. I think he is wrong. I called other Firestone and they said that they have special rubber tip equipment that makes sure it wont chip the paints. So i'm going back and talk to him again.
I just wanted to know what you guys think about this.

basically, a good tyre shop w/ a quality machine (ie. Hunter) will NOT scratch the rims

This has happened before to many people. Someone on here had a large rant (deservedly so) about a local tire shop. He asked them not to do the work if they were unable to mount the tires without making a mark/scratch. I believe they were on Sp00ns. In any case, you'll get nowhere with a firestone tire place, I had a similar experience. They don't care and probably won't pay the price to fix them. I'd raise hell anyways. Enough letters of complaint to district manager-types might eventually raise an eyebrow. Sorry to hear about your jacked up wheels.
Sorry, but you get what you pay for.
Cheap tire shops will use cheap machines that will damage the wheels.
If you want no scratches, go to bLiNg-bLiNg tire/wheel shop. They actually take care of wheels, 'cuz that's all they care. (Or, find an expert race tireshop.)

Just saw your location... if you're actually in GA, go to Gran Turismo East

They do race tires to exotics... http://www.panteraplace.com/page95.htm

I went to Firestone and the machine chipped all four of my wheel. Except when -I- confronted them with it they told me their machines don't do that and I did it myself by driving on the road. I fought with them for weeks to do something about it and they refused. Maybe you'll be luckier than I was and get something out of it.
I had a local shop put new tires on my old GSR wheels. All 4 came back with scratches, Circular scratches with like a 6" radius. I took em back, complained, and they sent all 4 to be refinished. I was pissed when it happened, but with the proper complaining, they mad it right.
I have no idea what they did to my wheels to *** 'em up that badly... I was amazed.

That same thing happened to me with my new Lenso's. I noticed the damage they had done before I paid for the tire install. I told the Manger that he had scratched my rims. He said " there is no way your rims got scratched from our machines, we have rubber coated equipment that prevents this from happening". I told him I don't give a **** about his machines! My new rims were scratched! He threw my keys at me and told me to "get lost". I was so pissed off! I left phatty burners in the parking lot and called the corprate office of WINSTON TIRE CO. and explained what happened. After a 6 month battle I got a $650 paint job on my Lenso's. Now they are the same color as Volvo 850R rims.
Just play hard ball, they will pay up!
Damn bastards.....Winson Tire Co.

at least it doesn't look like this:
stoopid curb
my advice is to bring it to a car dealer that has to mount high performance tires - I actually frequent a CHEVY dealer! as I too have been burned by a shitty tire shop.

There's your first mistake.
Almost every Firestone I've been to is
How much did it cost you to get the CDN ITR to Georgia (plated and legalized)?

What types of weights do you guys use? The ones which are attached to the wheel rim (outside) or stuck on the inside of the rim using an adhesive?
That happened to me before. But the stupid tech peeled some paint on the rim, and took a metal hammer to the tire because it wasnt sealing properly. He freakin missed the tire and gouged my rim. I complained to the owner of the gas station he gave me his insurance agent's number. and a few weeks later i got around 400 dollars for a new rim! WHO-HOO! I bought some headers with it instead! hehe! But if i were go back and complain your *** off! good luck!

Damn, now i'm regretting it. I went in for some new tires and my wheel came back with a big scuff on the lip...I don't know how they did it but I knew for a fact that my wheel didn't have that scuff previosly. My rims were in perfect condition before I brought my car in. Anyways, I saw it and just let it go cuz I thought that the tire shop was not going to compensate me; now I'm regretting it cuz it seems like all you guys got repaid for the damage.

Go ahead and write a letter to the BBB.
Also, did you have to sign a form before they worked on your rims? If so, read all the fine print and see if it says anything about damaged goods.

This happened to me a couple thousand miles ago at a Firestone here in CAli. When the guy hande me my keys and I was looking at the rims I was like what the **** are your people smoking??? There were chips all along the edge of the four wheels. I talked to the manager and told him to ive me his boss's name. He got scared and told me I would be reimbursed.
I told him that these were 450 a piece rims from the dealer and that if I didn't get some money back, that I was gonna get his *** fired. So I bitched like a lil girl and they gave me 100 per rim. Plus free alignment for life. Don't be scared when talking to these jackasses. Let them know that those rims he messed up are worth more than his life and he will bow down.

You should always get something out of this type of situation...at the very LEAST your money back and wheels fixed. Thats just ridiculous...
Good ol' Sears always treats me right!

I already tried all that, "denial, denial, denial"! It's all good anyway, that happened to the Momo's that got totalled with my Civic. Luckily, I know better than to take my Type R rims anywhere like that again.
Like the little green Dragon said (wait, yoshi is a dragon right?), a GOOD tire shop will have no problems with nice rims, they should have rubber and plastic mount/unmounting tools that should break before any stress is on the rim(s) causing damage.
I was nervous about getting my azenis mounted and the tire shop did an excellent job with NO damage. I'd be pissed of if I were you, even more so because they CONFIRMED that there was going to be no damage whatsoever, ******* bastards. BTW--Nice rims
(less the scratches/gouges,
)
