Default OUT WITH A D16Z6 IN WITH A DOHC VTEC

SO I HAVE COME TO A LONG DECISION THAT I WANTED TO ABANDON THE D16Z6 AND SAID TO MYSELF THAT THIS IS MY FIRST BUILD AND I WANTED TO GO ALL OUT ON IT SO I WANT TO GET THE BEST MOTOR FOR MY 88 CRX SI. I'VE BEEN LOOKING AROUND AND FOUND A PLACE THAT SELLS THEM BUT I CANT CHOOSE. ONE OF THE MOTORS IS A B16A VTEC AND THE OTHER IS A H22A VTEC. IF I GO WITH THE H22A VTEC WOULD I HAVE TO CONVERT THE TRANSMISSION AND MY CAR? WILL I HAVE CLEARANCE ISSUES?

Well as far as my research goes which is not much you can do almost anything you want and make it work but it posses one issue that most people have is money so set a budget and then start decide what you want from there but I personally want to stick with a B-series motor swap and there is a lot to choose from but then again this is one man's opinion

If you want a fast car, and are on a budget, rebuild the z6, or buy a low mileage one from a reputable importer, then TURBO IT! You can get about 250hp and 180 tourqe (depends on boost and setup) to the wheels, tuned, for about 1800.

B16 have about the same torque as a z6, just more top end. Plus you still gotta buy a tranny, mounts, linkage, ecu, etc... It all ads up and in the end youll only be at 160 flywheel hp max, and no torque.

H22 are TOO expensive, if you have the money, go for it. You can get a H2B kit to use a b series tranny or just use the h series tranny. and in the end ull have 200 flywheel hp max, and 160 torque.

They make kits to use the hydro trannies. Or you can convert your car to hydro for a smoother clutch feel (hush22 makes a COMPLETE kit i plan on buyin lol). OR you can use a H2B kit to use a b series tranny and but the longblock only. Research is key

Yes, they sound great. They are not fast. you have to get them up into 5500rpm and keep them up above there to be any fun at all. Given the price tag, very not worth it. My opinion is rebuild the z6, get a nice cam installed. Then down the road gather knowledge and parts to turbo. Another downside to b16 is the pretty weak tranny, and how hard it is getting to find good ones

The tranny aint the problem, the synchro sleeves are.
Throw some carbon synchros in the tranny and there goes the tranny problem.....

For some good information see Numbers 2 and 4…

If you want speed go with a LSX in that thing and drop some boost or NAAAAAWWWWWWSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!

Do what you want...

You will need access to the internet and the ability to search for write-up's for the swap.
It's been done before and covered very well.

Hey look, a fan boy... Let me guess you love "Apple" products too?

OP just get what you want and stop posting pointless threads like this; all you will get is people's hopes and dreams because they want one, mostly biased opinions because they own one, or what people "huRd$ 0n dA iNta\/\/3bz y0?"... Do what you want and what ever fits your budget and goals.

if you plan on turning the car at all i'd go with a b-series...the h series motors make the ef very nose heavy which makes them very prone to understeer ...and if you wanna drag only car the b is still a better option imo because of the weight and its only 30-40 hp less than an h22 ,but with far more aftermarket support
