Default 1990 EF HB intermittent start problem

Need some help here please: I have a 1990 honda EF HB with a 1.5 DPI engine. It was doing the usual no start after it got hot problem with the exception that it would not crank but all power was there. I have followed all the instruction on the different threads.
To date I have changed the main relay with a new one from Honda. cleaned and regrounded all wiring connections, checked and cleaned all fuses, replaced the ignition switch and key assembly with new ones and even replaced the engine bay harness with another after I opened up the casing and traced, and did a continuity checked of each wire in the engine bay harness.
The car has been running and starting a lot better however it will intermittently not start when you turn the key and it becomes more frequent when the car has been running at operating temp. for awhile. It can be jump started but this is a pain so in the mean time I ran a set of ten gauge wires from the battery to a starter switch I installed under the dash back out to the starter.
This has come in hand on several occasions but I would still like to fix the problem properly. Can anyone give me any more areas to try and solve this problem. Thanks in advanve.

Sounds like a classic example of your starter going bad. If it turns over when you jump start it - it's most likely "forcing" it to work/ get past a bad spot...

if it just clicks when u try to turn it over. then take a tire iron and hit it pretty hard on the starter then try again. if that does it the brushes are probably worn down to ****

That used to work on old school starters... Now it just busts the magnets and causes more harm than good...

Thanks guys but there is no clicking sound. The car starts fine when it is cold and six out of every ten times at operating temp. But those other times when you turn the key to start it just does not kick the starter, everything else powers up though. But if I hit the manual started button I installed straight from the battery it fires right up. Oh and I should mention that when it does not start with the key it nocks out all the pre sets on the stereo which really has me baffled.
I will be removing the starter very soon and checking out the internals for any wear.

Starting to sound like bad wiring or something of the sort.

lol your kinda wrong there buddy. i had a nippondenso alternator in my 89 Civic ED6 and the bastard brushes were getting worn down so id hit the alternator and itd start charging again. idk if itll break the magnets or not but itll work on a honda. especially if you were like me about 8 miles from home at 1 in the morning and the headlights start dimming because the alternator wants to be a jackass

but i forgot to mention too that trick would only do ya good for so long. once the brushes get worn down to the point of no return your screwed until you replace em with new ones.
