Default Power Window Issue in 1989 Accord LX...

All power windows work just fine except the drivers window which won't go up or down. I took the door panel off and took the power window control switch out and cleaned all connections. I also took the power window control module off and cleaned all connections. I reinstalled both the switch and the module and once again all windows work fine except the drivers side which won't do anything. When I hit the switch for the drivers window I can hear a little click in the module but the window does not move and I can't hear anything in the window motor. Any ideas?

Thanks!

hey, HonBeer just likes to give grief. I think I saw a post last week where he actually gave some help, I was surprised....anyway.

I've stated on this forum before, there is no clear direction where an 89 Accord falls. For the haters out there, READ the sub forums if you don't believe me. Heck I think the 88 Accord is also "lost" on this site as well.

Anyway, put power and ground to the R/Y and the R/Bu of the motor connector. Switch the power and ground between the two (I forget which is up and which is down).....does the motor work?

So I just disconnected the negative terminal from the car battery and reconnected it and I made the window go down 5 inches and then back up. Then it wouldn't work anymore. Maybe the disconnecting the battery rest a relay or something where???

Got your PM about the motor so we know it is good.

Here is the info on the switch and module tests...good luck.

It seems the mods have moved this to the "Classic" section....even though that/this is for "PRE 88", so again....where do the 88 and 89 Accords belong...mod's...any advise, can you restructure the site or make is clear.

Yes I know the gen's but the read the same rules that are posted.....

" Unless you have something constructive to add keep it to yourself "

"Posts/Threads that are meaningless and lack the ability to elicit thought-provocative responses"

"Respect all users, including new ones just because you've been around doesn't give you the right to be an ***".......if you are a new new user, do you know that 3rd gen Accords "halfway" belong in the Classic section? The first Honda you got or had did you know this?

Sorry that I try to HELP someone that has a question. Let me know what I did wrong.

Thanks! I'll check the module first since it seems a bit more straight forward. Great information you posted!

After troubleshooting the issue based on the instructions provided by poorman212 above, I found it was a bad module. I was able to pick up a used one at a local junk yard and the problem is fixed. Nice to be able to put the drivers window down when it's 95 degrees out Thanks to poorman212 for all the help!

Thanks, for the info, I used this thread to find my problem was with the control module as well.

However, being too cheap to buy a replacement module, I opened the control module and found 3 bad solder joints (much like the master relay issue) and was able to repair by resoldering those bad connections

Bad solder joints on window control module.
