mp3 CD player yes, just get a sony cassette converter. mp3 ipod or other device? I don't believe so.

could just spend $100 or so on a deck that will have a connector for either a usb stick or aux connection for the mp3 player.

trust me when i say this...

DO NOT BUY a cassette to auxilary
they will break and you'll buy another one...from a different brand
then that one will break then you'll find another one
then thatll break

then you'll realize you couldve put that money towards a $50-100
cheap aftermarket headunit with an aux port

save yourself the headache
because when those cassette things go out it will drive you nuts
they never just stop working
one side stops working so you only get sound out of either the left or right speakers

go find a cheap aftermarket headunit and install it yourself
it wont break on you

I've had that same tape adapter in there for over a year. left it in 90+ degree weather. played it everytime I used the car.

NO PROBLEMS.

I think the more important question is why are cars still being sold with tape players haha. Heck, its almost even redundant to have a cd player these days

huh...weird
i've gone through at least 4

had a sony one...a gigaware one...phillips...and one i got from radioshack

yep thats at least 4

maybe my old corolla was destroying them somehow.
good riddance that car is gone

OH YEah i even got a monster brand one from the apple store.
that was before i got my ep. i didnt want to bother getting a headunit and install it if i knew i was eventually going to get a "real" car

do the math... roughly they cost around 6-10 dollars (the monster one was almost $20)

im not exaggarating. from my experience at least . i think you should just get a headunit

you might be lucky and keep one cassette adapter working forever
but if the first breaks on you...dont waste your time on finding another lol

your tape deck was dirty brah.

seriously, the sound quality on mine is great. beats a new Mustang or Mini with the audio jack. Only thing better I've heard is the iPod cable (in an M3).

I havent got any use for an aftermarket hu because im not running audio or mp3 cd`s anymore. When it comes to music i want it readily available, all of it, anytime, anywhere. Thats why a 64 gb mp3 player is what i use for this.

Actually i thought of something else.
Connecting the mp3 player straight to a 4 channel aftermarket amp, using two channels to power the speakers, and the other two bridged for the sub.
Ive done it before with an Alpine stereo amp running just two speakers, worked flawlessly. Volume, bass and treble controlled and set on the mp3. Power switch for the amp on the 12v wire.
Sweet? This way i can totally delete the cassette/cd deck and free up like 5 lbs, woohoo.

There are mp3 CD players, and mp3 players that are standalone devices such as an ipod. its a very simple concept.

I am not sure where I lost you on that one.

if you do that...please make a diy lol because i can't imagine how you'd get that to work.

is this going to be your track car?

if it's for your daily...that seems overkill. you'll never notice the ~5 lbs

whatever floats your boat.

i think your best bet would be too just get a decent head unit (i have an alpine and it is amazing with a rear usb port so i can hide my ipod in my glove box), and get an ipod to replace your mp3 player. it would be alot less work than deleting the deck and running everything from an amp.
