Default 96 Ek overheating problem

The other day i changed my thermostat since it went out..2 days later my car starts overheating. So i checked all the hoses, radiator, etc...i still cant seem to find where the leak is coming from. Im thinking it may be a cracked head, but has anyone had this issue and it come from a different place, and where i can look?

Are you sure you even have a leak? Sounds more like you have an air pocket in the coolant.

You didn't say anything about that in the OP. Have you done a pressure test of the coolant system? Also t-stats can sometimes go bad from the parts house. Put it in some water with a thermometer and heat it up. Watch the themostat and see if it opens at the right temp.

Where is the steam coming from? can you see coolant physically leaking out of the motor?
First indication is air left in the lines. Can be remedied by running the engine, with rad cap off for two fan cycles.

hope this helps

Is your fan kicking on? I would run it if you can for 15 mins, park it and let it idle see if passes the mid point on the temp gauge and listen for the fan to come on.

Also, as other said bleed the system can take 25 mins or so, if you have a air pocket could be taking up the space for coolant.

Also, if you smell coolant check the rad hoses, check the rad itself closely see if the top seam is wet, they are known to fail.

You really should say HOW you fixed it so the next person that comes along with this issue can use this thread to fix it. Otherwise the whole thread is pointless.

I agree, what is the point to say you fixed it and not say what the problem was.
