B20 with b16 head or just go b16 engine
A B20 with a B16 head (done properly) will crush a stock B16 hands down. Maybe if you build the hell outta the B16 and spin it to the moon you'll make more power but thats about the only way..

this was my stock 20 bottom end and b16b head,
i would love to see a b16a do this to a tuned s2k

you kept up with a s2k? good job. beating it would be worth talking about.
a b20 block with b16 head would kill a b16a all day. unless you bored it out in which you'd just have a 1.9.

the b20 should rip a b16 all day with similar money in them. the only thing a b16 is better for is rpms or if youre trying to stay within a specific lower power, like me. im building a b16 for my local time attack where we class by power to weight ratio. also the track has half the track that being able to stay in gear and pull higher rpms means no time lost shifting, where with a b20 id have to shift up then 1-2secs later shift back down.
The only way the B16 would make more power is if it was turboed, and the B20/V was naturally aspirated. If you wanna stay naturally aspirated, the B20 block B16 head combo would be the way to go.
i had a 98spec itr box with a KAAZ 1.5way was serious, also an itr flywheel is a good upgrade.
although i dunno how freely available those parts are to you guys in the US
