Default Warming up and cooling down an auto tranny?

From what I was told. D + ebrake warms it up faster and N +ebrake cools its down.

But is the ebrake nessecary in both? What if I just used the brake pedal instead, would it still be as effective? I do know having the car in D does warm up the tranny faster and having it in N does cool it down, but is it as effective as using the ebrake method on top?

If youre going to close this thread, then please at least PM wth me a reply to this topic. thx

What are you trying to accomplish?

Anytime the converter is allowed to free wheel, I would think there would be less heat built up.

Why in the world would you be trying to change the normal heat cycle of the transmission? DRIVE IT NORMALLY! Changing how the transmission operates to some cycle that it was not manufactured for will cause additional wear and tear. In colder months, just start the car earlier then you would in the warmer months, to get the drivetrain up to operating temperatures.

Do you spend time doing research for these questions? I have no idea where you might have read this as a plausible option.

WTF?

I was thinking the same thing as Matt. Who the hell told you that? hahaha
I wouldn't deliberately drive around with the e-brake on. That's unnecessary wear and tear dude. If you're doing it.... Stop.

Im talking about doing this at long lights not driving with the ebrake on. I do this be because on the winter itll warm up the trans faster and in summer itll cool the trans faster. I do it just on ocassion not all the time. And yes i do also have an ext cooler installed.

If the car is stopped for a long period of time on flat ground I just put it in neutral.

Do not attempt to do this in Winter to warm up the transmission fluid. As stated by husyk, get a Remote Starter for your car in Winter. That way you can warm up the fluid naturally and not put unnecessary wear on the transmission.

I would think putting it in to Park would be a better option, just in case your hand slipped and pushed it in to gear. The effect is the same, to be honest.
