hmm ethanol
I know that ethanol is gonna be banned next season in nhra quick class comp but I was just thinking about running it now on my current motor and set my spare alcohol motor (in process) aside till i get the hang of this motor i realize that its gonna be hard to hit up all the races next season but i just wanna go out there around the local and state area tracks and lay down some numbers just to have Fun and go fast which is what ive wanted to do intially to the car and not be worried about class rules which i think there are way to many . maybe mid season ill change my mind but just for now what do you guys think thanks : -Pdang
yeah its late and i have nothing better to do just like everyones always told me i cant make up my mind have to see what the masses want before making my desicion-Pdang

what does it take to run methanol on an naturally aspirated motor.... i know that larger injectors, larger fuel pump, and stainless steel fuel lines... but how bout engine build?... is there any significant parts or procedures to take into account when building a na motor to run methanol? i've considered running methanol but i don't have that much info about it. how hard is it to tune? and what are the difference between race gas and methanol?
fortynineR hmm ive done most of my research in turbo cars so i wouldnt know where to start in the motor buildup with methanol but im pretty sure it runs pretty similar to turbo motors try giving Jg engine dynamics a call they've done it on joel mandells car you can see pics of it at http://www.twinsturbo.com if you have anymore questions Im pretty sure tony1 can also help you out as he is one of the only few that has gotten methanol tuned consistant enough to run the numbers. goodluck-Pdang
Unfortunately, I haven't messed with methanol on an n/a car. The things needed are the same as a turbo car, but not sure on the tuning. I really don't know how much of a benefit there will be on a n/a motor.
thanks for the response... well i was just wondering about the risks of running it. i have no time and $$$ for trial and error... does it wear out the motor faster?... well my bottom end is pretty built .... eagle rods and arias pistons.... as for for the valves.. im using ferrea oversized .5. im pretty sure there is more all motor cats out there running meth... but im also sure that they have big time sponsors and back up motors!...
