Default a/c minor issue blowing warm/cool

My buddy and I recently changed 2 weeks ago my a/c had to change the blower, the converter kit to r134, expanition line and something else. The lines were dry so we put in oil and new freon. While putting it in its nice and cold but driving during the day in texas heat its just cool not cold. ONly in the morning and night is it cold. We checked for leaks nada. My question is this normal to run cool and i mean on the warm side of cool or is there something else that could cause it to be running like crap.

Did you place the system under a deep vacuum for a couple of hours prior to recharging? How much refrigerant did you add?

No we did not do that we just did this in my garage...I guess best practice would be to take to a real shop to allow them to vacuum it out. and from what my buddy told me he charged it to the max psi you can. I'm trying to troubleshoot it before i take it to a shop that will charge me up the rear or come up with something i do not need. But does it really need to be under the vacuum for 4hrs or is that just best practice ?

a 134 conversion there is a lot to do, you will need a new dryer, did you do that? a lot of o-rings I think need to be replaced. Like ron said you need it to vacummed out completely, it is best to have a shop do this. Also, the 134 uses less freon than the orig r12.

yes all the o-rings were replaced and a new dryer was installed as well i think the only thing thats still "old is the compressor/condensor. I will just have to look into a shop here to get it all vacuumed out.

The system MUST be deep vacuumed for a couple of hours prior to recharge. You also need to replace the receiver/dryer. Recover the refrigerant and do the job correctly. Add refrigerant by weight not pressure.
