From: nothing is real unless it is observed
Im experiencing a bit of (from what I can hear) mid-load knock on my JRSC GSR. I am not currently running a Knock sensor but have the ability to do so IF anyone can confirm that the OEM knock sensor is a useful tuning tool.
I have attempted to use the OEM system in the past and it was detecting knock that was not there.
Ive seen homemade DET cans out of tubing and a pair of cheap ear protectors, but not sure on how accurate that method is.
Plugs look fine from what I can see
Thanks In Advance

Those are all nice devices but for me a little expensive. Keep in mind this is a hobby not a profession.
Sitting at work thinking about this it should be "relatively" easy and cheap to build something myself.
From what I gather a knock sensor is not much more than a piezo electric microphone, and should be really easy to amplify this to an audible level through a simple portable speaker for an iPod or through an unused RCA input on your car stereo.
I'm sure I'm over simplifying this and not thinking it through completely.

its worth the investment, to build one yourself you probably would have to be able to calibrate it so that you wouldnt read phantom knock

We shall see.... Spending $270 on something I'll rarely use is pretty much out of the question. Seeing as the MSD is not likely geared toward a Honda engine anyhow.
Here another device for detecting knock http://www.phormula.co.uk/

plugged into Neptune too, egr lift input

adjusting it's engine bore dependent frequency parameter on the fly makes it's an all around tool.
