Okay so since I bought my 97 Del Sol S about a month ago, i've had OCCASIONALLY a long or short annoying squeak like nails to a chalk board come out from somewhere in my car. I thought originally it was my rear brake-shoes but I replaced them, and the demonic screech does not want to go away. Like I said, It happens occasionally, and it did it again today for almost an hour off and on. It seems to only happen when I shift between 1st and 3rd. I'm suspecting it may be the A/C compressor when my A/C is on, but then again it might not be. I googled it, no luck.

Any ideas?

Does it do it when you push the clutch in?

if it happens when u shift maybe a shift linkage bushing try spraying with WD40 and see if it goes away

 

Mine does this ^^ only when the ac compressor kicks in and when i push in the clutch with the ac on.

 

Check for a loose or cracked exhaust heat shield.

 

Yeah, It seems to only really kick in after the AC has been on for awhile, but once, it did it when I wasn't even on the clutch. I'm rebuilding the whole suspension on the car anyway, but it's really scary.
