Default 2nd gen CRX Si - help

hey HT, my cousin's crx has been sitting for almost a decade and i want to help him get it in decent running shape again.

first thing, the cable to pop the hood open has snapped, i know i can get a new one, but how do i go about replacing it?

also, he said his year crx has a clutch size/diameter that unique from the other years, and it somehow is slightly harder to pull out the engine/tranny bcuz of it...is this true?

thanks!

tell you one thing I would do as soon as i got the hood open.... good luck there...

disconnect the fuel line before the fuel filter
put a battery charger on your battery terminals
run the fuel out of the tank and then rinse it with fresh gas
then use that gas for your lawn mower...

Gonna cost a lot at these gas prices but it beats screwing up an injector

Also just go ahead and change all of your fluids ... all of them brakes, oil, trans, coolant.

I would do that before attempting to start or drive it.

Then expect to change your drums and rotors or have them cut... and replace your pads

Tell you what I did once waking up an old car ... had sticky lifters so I drained the oil and put in 2 quarts of WD40 from a gallon container and put in 2 quarts of fresh crap oil... I let it run about 10 minutes then let it sit then ran it again and changed the filter and put in good oil... no sticky lifter... BUT that is a slightly crazy thing to do.

my 2 cents....

If the crx has been sitting 10 years, you MUST drain out ALL of the old gas out of the tank, or you will damage something

I would also highly recommend you change the timing belt before starting the engine. That old belt will be stiff and dried out...and very likely to rip from the tight area in which it sat around the bottom crank pulley gear.

As mentioned above, all fluids should be changed

If the car has a unique clutch, is is probably an 88 model. The only thing different about it is the number of teeth on the mainshaft and matching clutch disk. Labour is exactly the same as any other EF, no biggie
