This past weekend, a very good friend/customer of mine came for a visit to the shop. Throughout the course of our friendship, we at IMW have gotten to know said customer's son, Wesley very well.

Over the duration of their visit this weekend, young Wesley realized I had driven my Civic to work, and demanded a ride for a solid 4 hours.

So, with his father's blessing, we were set out to travel at "light speed."

The car is a 500+hp '98 Civic coupe, turbo K20, EP3 trans with big meaty tires. Ran 11.1 @ 128mh last year with 50whp less, just for reference.

imo i dont think that was a wise choice, what if something went wrong?
i once opened my car up with someone else in it, and ill never forgive myself for doing it.

what if that 1 in a million chance something happened where you crashed and killed that boy, i know i could never live with myself. i will only race by myself. but thats just me.

i use to street race all the time. im not a worrying kind of guy but i just wouldnt take that kind of chance with a young kid.

Couple years back I came to an intersection. Something behind the house across the street was rumbling along, and around the corner came this beautiful old blue Lightning. Guy was taking his kid for a ride in the ole' truck.

Watched him lay 300 feet of rubber and went "damn, wish that was my dad."

Kids gotta have some memories man, try not to make them inside of a bubble so much.

 

Hooked on boost already. The start of a great cycle.

Wish I had memories like that instead of the ones I have.

He reminds me of my god son. He loves my car although he has never driven in it.
