2002 Honda Accord V6 Hot Start
Hi all. I am having an issue with my Honda Accord V6 Coupe. Car has almost 200,000 miles. The car is having a problem starting during two instances:
1. After driving a short distance (i.e. grocery store, gas station, etc.)
2. When it is very hot outside.
The car cranks no problem, but won't turn over. Also, have had no problems while car is running. In one instance the car started but then immediately idled down and shut off.
When car does not start, I do not hear the master relay clicking like it should nor do I hear the fuel pump pressurize.
From past experiences with other vehicles, I've checked the battery, air filter, hoses and electrical connections. Everything looks good.
My question is - fuel pump or master relay? or something else? Also, is there an easy way to test the fuel pump and/or master relay. Thanks very much.

I am having a similar problem with my 1991 honda accord dx 200,000 miles. Car will start but it drags it makes a er er er sound. So I replaced the starter started good for a day or two and then started back not wanting to start. So I had the Fuel injectors cleaned started right up with no problem. The next day it started back giving me the same problem. Could it be the fuel pump relay? It seems to have something to do with it not getting fuel. PLEASE HELP
Definitely sounds like Main Relay troubles. There's many ways to test it, but just pull the relay out and examine it. Look at the solder joints and determine if there is any cracking or separation. It's best to have a magnifying glass to really get a good look. If there is any cracking and separation you can re-solder or buy a new one.
