I'll be getting endless NA-Y pads for the front. AXIS for the rear.

Stock IMO. Unless you are harsh on them or drag them on the track you'll be fine.

Two excellent setups for high-perf street and auto-x, with light track (certainly much better than OEM on the track):

F/R --> AXXIS ULTIMATE/AXXIS ULTIMATE ($92.25/$52.35)

or

F/R --> FERODO DS2500/AXXIS ULTIMATE ($98.38/$52.35)

This is for the ITR.

FERODO DS25000
- approximately 10% higher dust level vs. OE Honda
- very quiet
- excellent wear rates; as much as 15-20% more than OE
- very good cold stopping power (similiar to OE)
- extremely fade free (up to 1000F, versus ~650F for OE)
- flat torque curve, yielding consistent performance independent of speed/temp
(torque curve here: http://www.cobaltfriction.com/prod-c...ads_ferodo.htm)

AXXIS ULTIMATE
- approximately 15-20% higher dust level vs. OE Honda
- very quiet
- excellent wear rates
- good cold stopping power
- extremely fade free (1000F)
- slightly progressive torque curve
- excellent braking torque (15-20% greater than OE)

If you do mostly track and some street, then the Carbotech P+ is a good choice, but you will have to live with a high level of dust and moderate squealing. If you're looking for this type of pad (track and street), then the Endless CCX is also a decent choice if you _must_ have JDM, albeit at a higher price. Go to Carbotech (877.899.5024) for the P+ and R&D Motorsports (843.760.4804) for the Endless and Cobalt (877.562.9237) for the Ferodo DS2500 and/or Axxis Ultimate.

Joe, I can get you a set of Axxis Metal Masters. I ran them on my setup at Streets of Willow and had no fade. I drive them daily uptil this day and they rock.

Looking at about 40ish dollars for a complete set. Let me know if you are interested, can ship or pickup.

Edit: Streets of Willow is a short track and requires alot of braking.

I don't know if this question is covered aywhere, but how do the AXXIS Ultimate pads compare with the Porterfield R4S? I'm just asking since i've been running the R4S for a while now and it's almost time to change my pads. Give giving myself different options.

I recently got the EBC greenstuff, a lot of people on this board say that they suck ***, and that the whole "reduced break dust" thing is bullshit. But the pedal feel is awesome, and I love 'em.

The DS2500 is a high-performance street/auto-x/light-track pad. The DS3000 is a full race/track pad.

The DS3000 is a true race compound, and with its flat torque curve and high(er) Cf, handily outperforms the Carbotech Panther+, based on customer reviews/responses. The Carbotech P+ makes a good weekend track pad for cars under 3000lb, especially if the user does not want to change pads between street and track use, but is not a true race compound (e.g. Ferodo DS3000 & DS3000 Plus, PF 01, PF 93, Hawk HT-14, Mintex F1R, etc.); the compromise is high dust/noise levels, rapid wear when cold, and sub-par initial brake response when wet and cold, during street driving.

As an aside, I have some of my customers use the P+ in the rear with the DS3000 in the front, as the P+ has a progressive torque curve and modulates easily.

Andy-----
it seems as though you dont have a pad that competes with the P+ , or maybe I'm reading it wrong
this is what I have come up with......
DS2500 and axxis ultimates - light track pad/street pad
DS3000 full race
panther+ med track duty and street

the last choice is what I'm looking for , my car is semi-lightweight (2332 with driver) and I want to replace my P+ with something comparable from you.

what is your opinion on this?
I dont want to change pads on my car , dust and noise dont factor in at all , rotor life is not a big deal either.

thanks ------

Axxis Ultimates

Put em' on the Si right before I sold it to my brother. Definitely very nice pads. Noticably more dust than stock however. But on the Si stock had hardly any dust.

Now stock R easily outbrakes my old Si even when it had AXXIS. But Si had tiny brakes compared to ITR

thanks, Andie for great service and communication

Doc --

Well, "yes" and "no". The DS3000 is a true race compound, correct, but in terms of streetability (even though it was NOT designed with street driving in mind)...it actually works very well, similar to the P+. I'll have to ask George about it, as he has them on his ITR, and has been driving them on the street since the last ECHC weekend at LMS. Believe the cold wear is a bit faster than the P+, but that the braking torque when cold is at least as good, if not better.

So, the skinny of it is --> you COULD use the DS3000 as a dual-duty pad, but I don't particularly endorse the idea. The DS3000's are $140.40 in the ITR fitment -- HT.com members receive a 5% discount on his compound --> $133.38, which is comparable with P+ pricing, AFAIK.

That being said, the original design model for a compound/product certainly can change, based on market dynamics. For example, the P+ used to be sold as a "race compound that was better that Hawk Blue" -- when this was proven to not be the case, it was sold as a weekend track pad (which it is, IMO) -- and from what I see/hear recently, even being sold as a street pad (which I don't agree with 100%, but I'm not their marketing manager).

Where do you live, btw? In winter weather, you really should use an OE Honda compound...and only go to your "dual-duty" street/track compound during the track season, IMO...from a safety perspective.
