Default Engine monitoring system?

My friend has a fancy little computer for his new Jeep that allows him to read everything the engine is doing plus real time stats and other info... I was wondering if anything like this is available for my 1996 GS-R? I've seen him nip several engine issues before they even reared their ugly heads by just keeping an eye on the information this little computer spits out and I would love to do something similar!

Thanks!

PS I just took my first drive with my all stock GS-R into the mountains near my house and holy crap I had fun!

I know Greddy makes the Infometer, which plugs into the OBD2 port of the car.

yeah fuel use monitoring would be huge... I track it and doing so helped me find a problem with my 1987 Integra LS that would have done serious damage. I knew something was wrong when my fuel economy dropped like a rock. Being able to monitor a lot more would be nice! Next time I will post engine monitoring stuff in the correct area but this was Integra specific... I know there are a lot of variables that can be read from various cars and I wanted the best match to my car for what can be read!

Thanks!

I picked up a scan gauge 2... Thing is incredible for the price! I could only want for two more features out of this thing... Ability to invert the lcd (lit letters on black instead of backlit black letters) and the ability to mirror the text so I can mount it in odd places like behind my head where I can see it in rear view.

But its awesome!

There's also the option for smartphone. "Torque" app, it use a blue device that hooks up to your OBD2 port.
