Default Auto-x Wheels/Tires

I've heard the optimum auto-x tire is 225 width. What about profile ratio? And that requires longer studs for the front?

What's the size of the Millenia wheels? 6"?

I've found the following wheels/tires:
15"x7" Borbet Type "S" (15.5 lbs each)
NEW Bridgestone RE71 225/50/15 (A Traction, A Temperature, 140 Treadwear)
5 x 100 - fit VR6 VW's etc. (off a VW Corrado)
Asking $320 obo for the set

What kind of tires are these? High performance? All season or dry? Can't find them on Tire Rack.
They weigh about the same as stock.
Is the offset even correct?

I take it you plan on running a street tire class?

BTW, ITR bolt pattern is 5 x 114.3, NOT 5 x 100

D-Stock.

(Maybe hopeless case since with wider rims the offset would be wrong? Millenias must be 6" to be same offset as stock?)

The width of the rim has nothing to do with the offset. In stock classes the wheel needs to be the same width AND offset to be legal. In most regions you will need race tires to be competitive in D-Stock, unless you are a really really good driver

I run the Millenia 15X6 wheel with the Ectsa V700 225/45 all around (with 5mm spacers in the rear so the tires won't rub on the lower control arms.)

some people hate the floaty feeling. For me, I just adjusted my driving style. I can't feel the float now.

Usually the offset is different on a diffent size wheel so it is still centered and/or clears the brakes.

Anyway, is the Millenia the only wheel with same offset & size as stock?

What's the optimal tire size? 225/50 & 205/50 f/r? (that gives better rotation and doesn't require spacers?)

What about for the track? 205/50 all around? Will this work for both auto-x & track?

I plan to do all the auto-x events next summer and 4 Solo Trials track days.

What's the best auto-x tire?

Damn racing tires are expensive. I thought they were like $50, but only lasted some 10 or so auto-x days.

Since I don't run in a stock class, I don't follow the stock rules too closely. I beleive the tire size must be the same as originally came on the car.

I wish race tires were only $50! In a 15" size you're looking at $110-185 a piece new. A new set should last a full season, maybe a little longer.

for D-stock, if you want to be competive you'll need race tires.

IM H-Racer on this board, he's a kickass D-stock/G-stock champ in the ATL region. I believe he prefers 225/50(?)/15 front Kumho with 205/50/15 rear Kumho for more rotation. The only other changes to his car are: exhaust, shocks (?) and a roll-cage.

If you just want to have fun, Azenis 205/50/15's on mazda millenia rims (11.5lbs) will do the trick, but don't expect to compete against cars w/ racing slicks.

You mean trailing arms right?

Millenia wheels are same exact specs as Stock ITR wheels which is what allows people to be able to run them in stock class. I personally stick to 205/50 due to no need for spacers and the minimal effect I have felt on 225's. also compare pricing. Might be the same just something to consider.

I would run a Yoko A032R or a Falken Azenis if you are going to double duty the tires. The azenis are cheaper and will last twice as long. You coudl run STX on Azenis and do well.
