Default Need help making my car go faster.

I have an 88 EF sedan and I am looking for cheap ways to make it quicker. the whole idea of the car is to see how fast I can go for under $500 and I have already met my spending limit.

Current set up

Engine:
obd1 D16z6
Ram air headlight intake
Ebay header
2.5" exhaust no cat
thermal intake gasket
60mm T.B. with matching I.M. inlet
No A/C or P/S parts

Trans:
Cable SI trans
8.5 lb flywheel
Short throw shifter
Old slipping clutch

Chassis:
no carpet
no rear speakers
no sound deadening
no rear seats
lawn mower battery in rear
HX wheels
Un-tuned VAFC (waiting for the cash to get a wideband)
P28 ecu

I am sure that I have forgotten some things.

The class I'm running doesnt allow me to take out my passengers seat, so that has to stay.

I'd like to keep my radio and front speakers, as I do drive it sometimes on the road.

So what else can I do to pick up a little better times? i'd like to stay away from cutting bumper supports and things like that, but i'm not 100% opposed to a little diet along those lines.

What kind of racing are you competing in?

Mostly 1/8th mile drag but I do some autocross.

For 1/8th mile drag I would say some sticky tires or replacing your clutch would help the most.

I dont have a traction problem in the least. That might change with a new clutch though. I 'll keep that in mind.

So have you already reached your spending limit as it sounds like, or do you have $500 to spend?

Door panels maybe? Dash? Without spending more cash I see this hard to do.

You could make sure your engine is properly grounded. My EF felt much better after I installed some new and extra ground wires.

I spent the $500 already.

All the dash and stuff i'd like to keep, unless there is a lot of weight I dont know about there.

All grounds are aftermarket other than thermostat one.

Anything non-essential to the car running right and extra weight? Door panels, interior molding, headliner?

well, I have to keep it looking legit for the class, i'm supposed to have full interior, and I've already lost the carpet, back seats, and headliner, so i think If I started taking door panels and the dash and such, they would start looking for the other stuff i've done.
