Default odometer, and trip don't work

My trip and odometer move maybe 1/10th of a mile every hundred miles or so, and my speedometer is off by between 5 and 10 mph. Are both these controlled by the speed sensor or how does it work on these third gen civics? It's a '84 1300 4 speed.

Could be wrong but I'm betting that is all still cable operated back in that time. I'd bet either the cable is hanging up somehow or the gauge is bad...

So the odometer and the speedometer are connected? I would think that if the odometer wasn't working then the speedometer wouldn't work either. Maybe my problem is with the gauge cluster. I will grease the cable and see if that helps though. thanks Any tips on greasing the speedo cable?
