Default Looking for my old hatch...

So in January I wanted to trade my EG for a sedan, because there was a possibility my girlfriend was pregnant. After all was said and done, she wasn't, but I already ended up trading my car for a DB7.

Anyways, I traded my hatch in January, and kept the Integra until about March or so, before I realized there was a piece of the firewall coming off, right where the VIN is. It got worse and worse, and then finally I realized what I got myself into (stolen car).

After all was said and done, I gave the car up to the police cuz I didn't want **** to do with it. All I'm looking for is to get my hatch back.. I have cash on hand for it, but I'm hoping I could work something out with the person that has it at the moment.

All I could say about the guy I traded was that he lived in Adelanto, and his name was Andre. So I assume the car is still somewhere in SoCal. He put it up for sale/trade on craigslist about a month after we traded, so that's why I assume it's with a new owner now.

If you have ANY info at all, I'd really appreciate. I was definitely ****ed over and learned a good lesson, no doubt. Hopefully SOMEBODY knows where my car went.

Thanks man.

Yeah, it was the first time I traded cars. I kinda thought it was too good to be true at first, cuz it was a '97, clean title, etc.. but just shunned that thought away cuz there wasn't really a reason for me to think that - all the VINs matched and checked out, the car ran fine, and it was exactly what I needed

Well I had no immediate funds after I turned the car into CHP, so all I had was a couple hundred bucks and some wheels I was trying to sell. I ended up borrowing some money from the parents for a down payment on a 2008 Altima coupe, not stolen of course

Yeah probably. There's some characteristics that will help me differentiate... mine was BAR'd for a 1.8L Acura motor, had a different radiator support welded on, had a quarter size hole under the carpet on the drivers side... just to name a few lol.

It was something other than a Ford My mom has a close friend who works at a local Ford dealership, and being I had no money saved up or no credit, I didn't have a choice to go anywhere else. It was the best car on the lot that I could attain.

I'm happy I have a nice car and ****, but I still miss my old Honda. Something about it was just enjoyable to drive all the time, even if it was a piece of ****.

So I'm currently trying to talk to this guy to check if this is my old car... gonna try to get as much info from him as I can then go back to the CHP station and talk to the guys who I dropped the Integra off with.

What tipped me off first was that it's a '95 hatch, missing glove box, stick-on window visors, and he says in the ad that the window regulator went out. Well my hatch had no glove box, and a few days before I traded it the window regulator went out on the passenger side. I know those are things that I'm sure many, many Hondas have that are wrong with them, but it's definitely not gonna go unnoticed by me.

The only thing that throws me off is that he says clean title pink slip in hand.. if it is my car, there's no way this car is a clean title. It was definitely a salvage. I had the radiator support replaced when it was under my name because the guy I bought it from was in a minor collision and the radiator support was bent down like 2".

I'll update this thread soon...

Thanks man.

Turns out the guy I posted above wasn't it.. a lot of similarities, but the bay was a different color, had no BAR sticker, and different VIN. I didn't check it out in person but it didn't seem like that'd help at all.

You should've, in my opinion. Your car had a switched VIN, didn't it? The other guy who traded most likely traded as well.

Paint? That's an easy $200 with spray paint. And stickers peel off.

But your custom radiator support would've been the smoking gun, honestly.
