ls vtec fouling out plugs
93 teggy ls/vtec fouling out plugs. New distributor, new wires, stock cams and gears. timing seems to be off less than a tooth, black build up on plugs but not burning oil. was told that the cams gears were my problem was wondering if this is true or if there is something else i need to look at.
p.s. all 6 sets of plugs were nkg

I meant what basemap, I careless what features you have. If it's not tuned then you're basically driving with your eyes closed. I would also check your mechanical timing and ignition timing.
Edit: Is there a cam timing issue with the LS-V?
That's how my timing is currently at as well. If you search my name you would see my thread about the situation. I just left mine at that with both cam gears advanced at +1,+1. I would get a wideband and monitor your AFR's.
Yes there is cam timing issue with lsv's and such. Bambam even stated it in his Thread about building these motors. Proper way is to degree in your cams.
assuming it is stock pistons you need to lean out the AF mixture. you are running a chip that is probably for something with a little more compression easy fix is to get a vafc and a wide band. sorry tuning is the only way to correct it
side not is the exhaust fumes really thick? what pistons and what head and head gasket?
need some more compression to utilize the amt. of fuel for the map.

agreed but for the cost of a used vafc why not try it just to lean it out at idle.
my reasoning is i put a b20vtec together for a buddy and had almost the same problem, stock b20 block stock milled gsr head and we couldn't even stay in the garage when it was trying to idle (my stock gsr ecu no chip) put a vafc in and leaned it out at idle solved the problem for me but i guess he could go ahead and spend the money and get hondata ect..

when i pull them out and put the on the no.1 wire of my crx and ground them the do not fire all. there not wet when i pull them . talk to a guy at the acura dealer he said it was the igniter becase it not oem bought it for advance there web site said OE stile
