Default Civic Si EM1 Lip Install

Hi guys, I am planning on buying a Brand new OEM (Not Ebay Replica) Si Lip for my 99 civic. The only thing im wondering is if it the mounting brackets are molded to the lip itself, or if they are a separate piece, if so i would need to know what pieces to order along with the lip. Any Em1 or Em1 Lip owners i would love to hear feedback on this. I have attached a Pic of an OEM lip so there is no confusion. Thanks!

Those tabs are supposed to be there, they mount up to stocl bolts on the under side of the bumper.

I know honda had an accessory lip for that year and it came with the hardware to install it for non si's.

If you got a "real OEM" SI lip I am not sure it bolts up to a non SI bumper or if the SI bumper was special.

If you have an si then should be ready to go.

Note, there were 2 styles of lips, one was prepainted to factory color and I believe there was a smaller matte black style but that might of been for 96-98 only JDM style.

All 99-00 Civic front bumpers are the same whether you have 2/3/4 doors. It is not just an EM1 under spoiler, it is an accessory for all 99-00 civics. Thing is you can get pre-painted EM1 colors new from any US parts distributor.

96-98 Civics also share the same bumpers but this is not for this thread.

If he buys it used, he will need the hardware to install it I think.

You can't find these lips new from Honda anymore, they were disco in '06. If you could find one, it would come pre painted and include the hardware to mount it. As was stated, all 99-00 civic bumpers are the same, so it will be a direct bolt on.

Hardware, just use bolts, washers, and nuts. Or get some bumper nuts and bolts.

Here is your new, EM1 only: #34. Trust me, they will still sell this for quite awhile as it was standard for EM1. The ones that are truly discontinued are accessory under spoilers for all other models.

Since most parts are sent off to paint before shipping. You might be able to ask your distributor if it is possible to NOT paint the lip for a discounted price.

Give them a call. It's discontinued and has been for a long time. There are still a few floating around in a warehouse in CA, but you won't be able to order that from Honda.

Are you sure 100%. This is my 3rd one. I ordered from Majestic Honda in 06, 07' and 09'. 1st one out my own pocket while next two was other parties' insurance. I chose black to repaint to white. I find it strange to discontinue a standard body part when you can still order parts for cars much older than ours.

They're the same lip. The SI lip WAS the accessory lip. It was an accessory for all 99-00 civics. They came pre-painted. Like I said, it was discontinued. You could still find them up until about a year ago. From what I understand, there are still a few black ones floating around. After a few hours of leg work I found them, but they weren't cheap.

The white, green, red, etc are long gone.

You need the little metal clips that go into your OEM bumper that have screw holes. Most decent body shops carry them.

Thats weird cause I just ordered a brand new OEM in box SI front lip. Pre-painted black. But my local dealer also told me they could order EBP or Red as well, since he had recently done just that.

They may just have some in stock or know a dealer who does. Some parts warehouses still carry them.

Just to clarify, ALL 99-00 Civic Si's came with the front lip....it was just an option for all other models

As far as being long gone, no. I have found a few dealerships with original old stock still in inventory. I just ran across a red one last week

motegicivic and 2LEM1 please reread all my previous posts in this thread, especially post #7.

I only talked about the accessory lip to generalize the under spoiler. I immediately talked about and gave information on EM1s (99-00 Si). We all know the accessory is discontinued. Yes, all the lips are the same whether it is EM1 or accessory.

Here is the pointer, we can still order this in EM1 color because it is a STANDARD body part for EM1s. Whether it is due to stocks or what not, we shall keep placing orders for the lip until it is TRULY discontinued.

I am not sure how much clearer I can make my post, honestly.

I understand, but only the Si had the front spoiler standard, so you will only be able to get in in certain Si colors black, red, electro blue etc.

When you look up say an Ex model it is not listed but shown on the pic, that is for the Si only.

Basically, there was an accessory available as well, which we were saying was discountinued.

Pretty sure the accessory part number is the same part number as the stock Si one. Also, don't forget that other countries got different colors for EM1 models....some examples:

- Canada got vogue silver, it can still be purchased new, so it's not disco'd by Honda
- Europe good the dark green (can't recall the name), it is still available too if you source out

So, i wouldn't really say they are discontinued. Now, if you are talking about a "rear" lip, that is a different story....Honda no longer makes them, and they were not standard for any coupe or sedan models

Rear lip can be ordered from any non-US/Canada distributor. VTi_Me can get you some from Dubai, UAE, or you can order from Lings Honda of UK at www.hondaoriginalparts.com Be prepared to pay a premium. ICBmotorsports also have a few in stock. They only come unpainted primer grey.

well basically guys I just want to make sure if I JUST order the Lip itself, if the Mounting holes seen on the lip are indeed one piece. I would think they are one. and thanks for all the input, there is great knowledge to be found here in honda-tech.

They are all one piece, however you need the metal slips to install in your bumper, and the bolts to mount it all together.
