I have an 05 civic ex se. I replaced the alternator in it a few months ago. After the install the alternator makes a whistling noise around 2k rpms and at 1k rpms. I checked the voltage and its still putting out 14 volts. I am driving it on a 1200 mile vacation in a month and didnt know if this is something i should worry about or not. The alternator is still under warranty for a long time. Please help me.

 

Are you sure it's the alternator and not the power steering pump? What about the A/C compressor?

 

how would i fix it if it was either of those? The main reason i think its the alternator is the noise started right after i replaced the alternator.

 

is the actual alternator making the noise, or is the noise coming through the speakers?

 

you should make a vid or a soundfile.
telediagnosis is always hard,..

 

I figured out that it is only making the noise when my a/c is on so im guessing it is the a/c. I will dig in to it more tomorrow. thanks guys
