99 Civic Ex Compressor kicks in, no cold air.
It's at a shop. A/C worked okay at might and in the mornings, but hardly in the heat. No leaks. Replaced expansion valve and dryer. Filled refrigerant to different levels and no cold air. The low side doesn't even get cold any more. The compressor kicks on like it should. 45 low 275 high on gauges in the shade with about 1000 rpm. Now they're saying the compressor is probably bad. Ugh.
Any ideas?

Was the compressor a honda or rebuilt?
The honda's did not include the clutch packs and had to be added on, after market typically includes it.
Another thing which is cheap to replace there is a thermo switch on the compressor itself about 70 bucks and bolts on, I would try that first, chances are it was not done in the first place.
As for a compressor going bad after 2 years it is possible depending on the unit and if it was new and not off a junker.

I not run it, there is another switch on the dryer as well, test it by unplugging the connection get a multi meter and you will see 2 terminals on top of the dryer, set the meter to say 10 ohms, place each probe on each terminal and it should read 00

What would that mean? I don't understand why the low line is hot. I'll try the meter when I can get to one a little later.
But how can it go from replacing a dryer and expansion valve to this? It worked in cool temperatures before all this.

Things happen and can be sudden.
There is a chance the compressor is shot, but check that thermo swtich on it first, I do not know how or if you can test it.
Okay, replaced expansion valve and drier. Was vacuumed and recharged. It blows fairly cool on highway but hardly in park or driving under 40. Condenser fan blows from grill to engine. Compressor clicks on and off like it should, not too frequently. When it blows at night on the highway, works great. Even parked at night it's not so bad. Could this be the condenser or compressor or both? Sprayed water on the condenser and it blew noticeably cooler, but not cold as it should be. ?

I hate to say this, but I am wondering if you have a clutch problem on the compressor?
The shop that recharged the system said everything was fine with the dryer. Every time the compressor clicks back on, I can instantly feel cooler air. Just NOT cold by all means, so I think that rules out the clutch?
It's deceptive, the clutch will kick on, but if it is slipping might a little cool, but not cold.
