@ $10/L and a ratio of 40:0.1 (liters-Gas:acetone 0.0025%) That is $1 of acetone / 40 liters of gas. I would like to see how many km you would get. However, I'm not about to test it out and put a paint stripping material in my 10 year old car. My luck it would probably end up clogging my fuel filter and/or injectors with gunk that it cleans out of the lines.

UPDATE
so far i have gone 230 miles and i still have a little over half a tank left, ACCORDing to my fuel gauge. i have a 92 accord lx 4 door with a 17 gal tank. the last time i filled up my tank i added about 3oz of acetone. about 90% of my driving is on the highway averaging about 60 mph. i occasionally us my AC, i dont draft other vehicles, i try to coast to a stop as much as i can, and i take off fairly quickly. just to give you an idea of how i drive.
so far, im pretty happy and amazed with how this is going. i have never gotten mileage like this until i used acetone.

Apparently this was actually tested on Mythbusters.
Quoted from: http://kwc.org/mythbusters/2006/05/e..._trousers.html

Test devices and additives:

* Fuel line magnets: working on the "principles of hydrodynamics," they are supposed to align the molecules for more efficient consumption.
* Acetone additive: supposed to make gasoline burn more efficiently
* 300mpg 'super' carburetor
* Hydrogen fuel cell generator: flammable hydrogen gas produced by electrolysis. Adam labeled it "Gasbuster: Stickin' it to the Man"

They tested each car on the dynamometer at 35mph and 55mph with each 'device.'

Carburetor car: * Baseline: 17mpg at 35mph and 25mpg at 55mph * Magnets: exactly the same as baseline busted * Acetone: 16.7mpg at 35mph and 24mpg at 55mph busted * Super carb: much worse than baseline, 12mpg at 35mph and 17.7mpg at 55mph busted

Fuel-injected car * Baseline: 19mpg at 35mph and 27mpg at 55mph * Magnets: 18mpg at 35mph and 26mpg at 55mph busted * Acetone: 18mpg at 35mph and 26mpg at 55mph busted

I get about 420-445 a tank in my bone stock 1991 EX coupe this is also mostly highway driving. I would not recommend dumping acetone in the tank

What shape is your ignition system in?

I was averaging 700km per tank with my F22B2 before I took it off the road. With similar driving style. I also had ported IM, 255cc injectors, header and exhaust.

dglasmyer- did they say how much acetone they used? adding too much will definitely make it worse. also remember, those guys aren't scientists, they do special effects.

ghostaccord- my plugs look good. other than that idk.

I dont have anything further from mythbusters however, my concern would be the amount of abrasion, or ph level of acetone itself.
I have handled acetone, it seems extremely caustic.
My concern would be for the rubber parts of your fuel system.
O-rings for example.
This is such a short sample size its hard to determine the long term results.
I will be cautious and side with Adam and Jamie on this one.
Follow up and post your results over time though.

just do all your seals a favor and buy a 10$ can of seafoam. i would never dump paint thinner/stripper into my gas tank.
