The role of spring rates in drag racing AND Linear vs progressive springs
I am curious as to how different spring rates affect a drag car. Also, what would be the difference in a linear spring rate and a progressive spring rate for a drag car?
Basically, I need to get more traction with my b20vtec hatch. Currently ive got kyb agx 4ways, z10 radius rods, and some crappy no-name brand coilovers. Im thinking that i could greatly benifit from a nicer/stiffer set of springs. But im not real sure how spring rate affects my car when it is launching, and traveling down the strip. A couple of my friends have told me that the springs have very little to do with your straight line traction. But it seems to me like with some stiffer springs, atleast in the rear, that it would help the weight of my car stay more on the front wheels.
Also, from what i can gather, the better style of spring to have for drag racing would be a linear spring, is this the case?
Can anyone shed some light on the subject as to how these things will affect my car as far as traction goes?
Thanks for any comments

not trying to pronounce myself the expert, but you would want linear springs, not those that are progressive and have initial "give" cause that will get you rocking bakcward off the drive wheels.
what honda do you have?
ground control coilovers are good that have eibach linear inserts that they will do to your specs.
i have 450 lbs on my rear of 87 crx that is pretty near maxing it for street usage. the rear end will actually get dangerous with much above that so if you are on the street at all you have to be sensible.

Ive got a 92' dx hatch with a b20vtec. Any ideas on a good spring rate for the rear of my car? Could i just keep what i have up front(not sure of spring rate), and get some 500lb springs for the back from eibach/groundcontrol? Do you think my handling on the street would be too sloppy? thanks
