Default Engine Question

Pardon me if this is a simple and stupid question, I'm 16 and this is all for my first car.

Question: Does the Longblock contain pistons/valves which oil flows threw.

Previous owner had pistons drilled to big by machinest and now it leaks like crazy so I'm simply going to but a new engine, but would a longblock be easier and cheaper. (fathers mechanic so any work he can handle)

Obviously that machinist should stop his line of work.

There is no piston engine made that oil flows through them by design.

Go the simple and easy route for your sakes. Buy a good engine and have the mechanic swap it in.
