Default 1991 Prelude. High Quality Restore.

Hello everyone. I'll explain the title really quick. High Quality Restore means I am taking this car from where it is now, to stock (Plus or minus a few things like ride height, interior fabric, etc). So let's get started.

List of Improvements to make (ever growing). Green indicates that this improvement has been completed.
Get stock or subtle wheels
Optima Battery
Black Suede Interior
OEM Fog Light Install
HID Headlight Install
Cut shifter down
Coil Overs

Full Inside Detail
OEM Foglight Switch
New IACV
Adjust Other Intake Valve

Fog Light Brackets
Bike rack (for bikes, not stickers)
Replace Coolant Hoses
New E-Brake
Nice Radio

Get Piece that goes below clock that is broken in every Honda ever
OEM antenna or a new BMW antenna
Get something to make the radio fit a little better
Paint on the driver fender and door
A/C needs to be charged but I lack the knowledge needed to do so.
Window Tint
OEM Replacement Steering Wheel

I picked this up from an old lady near Stone Mountain for $1200.

It's a one owner car. I got the original title from 1991 that says the car had 7 miles on it. Stock everything. Clutch and Timing belt was replaced not too long ago because it was part of the service plan. It has a new Power Steering pump in it too. Apparently a few of these models have power steering issues. No this is not the 4WS model, it's the 2.0 SI.

B20A5

I don't know why this thing was so high off the ground. It was fun to drive like that, but it had to get taken care of.

If you can't see that number it is 267K! Still kickin'

Erpdate Febrooarey 25rd

I wish I had taken a pic of this before. It was terrible! If you can see the back of the sunroof where it is brown and stuff, the whole headliner had spots like that all over it. I still need to get the sunroof obviously.

Update March 16th 2011

This took place a few weeks ago.

You're looking at a head unit being installed by my brother. Earlier that day I spent a good 4-5 hours installing the HID fog lights. Routing wires, soldering, fabbing my wires to work on an OEM switch etc. Also I pull the bumper to install the Fog's and come to find out they need a bracket. On top of that, the fog light bracket for my car is probably the hardest part you can possibly find. I drilled some holes inside the bumper and used self tappers to do some of the work and reinforced with zip straps. The right one is perfect and the left one gave me so much issue I just got it in there firmly and put the bumper back on. Hopefully I will get the patience to fix it soon.

Update, April 8th, 2011
Yesterday I decided I didn't like half corroded chrome wheels so I broke out the black paint. Just to gauge how I liked it I used spray paint. I liked it better than the corroded chrome so I will buy some car paint soon for the wheels.

Old Updates

Update May 29th, 2011
I've done a number of improvements to the car recently.
Car Paint on the wheels. It's not a powder coat job but it's a close 2nd.

I installed a new E-brake. Mine didn't stay up so I had to leave it in gear and that was a little bit sketchy.

New Fog light switch because the Original didn't have a fog switch and the one I ordered on ebay didn't fit my car >=|

^Not fitting gay ebay switch.

New one getting wired in.

Yay

Here is my interior. I recently got window tint too. 20% all around and 50% on the windshield.

This is a slow but surely moving build. I buy parts paycheck to paycheck. I'll usually get one big thing off my list every month or so. My next buy is probably going to be an A/C charge since I can't charge it with R12 myself.

Much more to come.

I wish my 89 had the black interior. GLWB man, 3rd gen Preludes are where I cut my Honda teeth. I had two '89s, an Si and an Si 4WS great cars if I could find another as clean as that I would ****** it up.

I really think they are man. This car is better than my 91 240sx sr20det gt2871r. Better than my 2007 Civic LX. Better than any other car I've ever owned. I love this thing and it has nearly 270k miles. I can;t imagine what it was like to own it new.

Not a whole lot. The B20 is actually the only B series that's not interchangeable among other B series. I don't mind it though because I'm not doing much aftermarket besides some nice wheels and interior stuff. If I can get some Honda fit wheels they will be going on though. The more OEM Honda I can work with the better!

Sorry for not updating guys. I painted my fender, which was unpainted. Soon to follow is the hood, the headlight covers, and the roof. The hood and headlight covers are already painted, they are curing for the next few days and then I'll start the real work.

This is the fender when I finished it.

Take note of the roof!

LOL yes. You do see 3 bikes

I did the wheels too. It sucks because I didn't put the center cap in for the picture so they look hoodrat status.

Think I might go in a new direction with this car. I'm going to buy an accord next week and I think I am going to gut this and get some bolt-ons and a lightweight flywheel and pulleys. Get as much performance as I can out of it.

So I decided not to gut it and make it my fun car. I went ahead and bought another car so I wouldn't be tempted. Now instead of a mod list, here is what I've done to it.

New:
Oil filter
Air filter
Spark Plugs
Spark Plugs Wires
Cap and Rotor
Fuel Filter
Brake Rotors
Brake Pads
Clutch
Timing Belt
Water Pump
Power Steering Pump
and I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

I'm doing injectors today because #4 isn't working right.

Update 6/13/2012

Hi everyone! No, I haven't stopped improving this car! I got a new job and I make about $30k more a year now. I upgraded to an Infiniti and I let my girl drive my Prelude. I still absolutely love this car. I'm gonna try to pick up where I left off.

I'm at nearly 280k with it now. I think I'm gonna have the A/C looked at soon to see what it needs and what kind of fraction they want from my bank account.
