Default Changing trans fluid to DW-1, drain and fill or flush?

First, I know not to power flush a Honda trans. By "flush" I mean a machine that uses the pump in the trans to replace the fluid using the cooler lines.

I'm about to change the fluid in my 2001 Accord. It has the factory Z-1 after 110,00 miles. I know these transmissions are a bit fragile, so I'm hesitant to change the type of fluid. I can't find Z-1 anywhere near me.

Will I be safe to drain the Z-1 and refill with DW-1 3 times, or should I have the dealer do it using their machine? I'm concerned about mixing the two fluids, and any adverse affects.

DW-1 is completely compatible w/ Z-1, and DW-1 is the replacement for Z-1. DW-1 is a synthetic trans fluid and is an improvement over the old Z-1. I would do a cooler line flush w/ the DW-1 so as i could get all the old fluid out. Never hook a machine up to a Honda Trans. I personally use Valvoline Maxlife in all 3 of my Honda transmissions for what its worth and in my friends 00 Odyssey w/ the really fragile tranny.

How long have you had Valvoline Maxlife in your CL with the malfunctioning transmission?
