Need advice for the track
Well, last night was the first night that my friend took his h2b setup to the track. We were kinda disappointed with the results so I figured I would post here to see if my train of thought is correct. The car put down 240hp and 170trq tuned by Kerr at IMW, about 50hp and 40trq more than the previous ITR setup he had before(same dyno). The old setup ran a best of 13.1@105 on DR.
Last night we went to Cecil county MD and were only able to run a best of 13.1@107mph on DR also. Now I know that they say trap increases as traction decreases, but my thoughts are that there has to be a line somewhere where that is no longer true. He is getting absolutely no traction in first gear, feathering it the whole time. 60' times are 2.0-2.1, but I believe he is still in first well after the 60' mark trying to get some sort of speed out of first gear before shifting. I mentioned launching in 2nd, and he did it a few times with no luck, bogging off the line a few times. The one time he damn near stalled the car, rolled into the throttle, and still ran 13.5@107....same trap.
I think the car has alot more trap and ET left in it. My other friend, however, believes that because he got the same trap regardless that there isn't much more mph left in it. I know this car is faster than what it ran last night. It pulls hard in 3rd and especially 4th. My thoughts are if he can get traction and actually utilize first gear, he will get into those gears sooner and be in 4th longer and increase his trap speed while lowering his ET. Right now he is basically doing a burnout the whole way through first and not really covering any distance. He definitely needs slicks IMO. Car is running on BFG DR size 205/??/15 at 15psi
Any insight would be very helpful! Thanks guys.
