I recently have been having problems with my door not opening. It wont open with the door handle on the outside or the one on the inside. I see that the lever that is down by the door latch on the inside of the door is up, Yet the door will not open. Is there any way i can get the door to open so i can replace the latch? Any tips or hints is appreciated. I am at a loss right now. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried jimmying the door open?

 

I laughed at it to until i realized what actually happened, of course it would do it with the door closed. And yes i tried jimmying the door but it is in the latch itself that is the prolbem. The handles and locks are free it just wont open. Idk what to do the only things i can think of are to brake stuff, im trying not to do that cause i don't wanna spend money on anything but the latch but if i have too i will. I don't know if the post makes sense or not about what my problem is. But i hope i can get it open with out having to brake something.

 

my guess is the lock actuator is stuck in the lock position, every time i hit unlock the doors lock back up again, and when i try the key in the door it does not move very well, almost like i bend something in between the door lock and the actuator. Any ideas?

 

my door tries to open for 1/2 " only then stops and reverses closed. Might be cable jammed up.
