Rusty Gas Tank
I have an 88 crx with a b16 in it. Had some issues with miss firing.... Took it to a local shop because I ran out of patience and wanted it to stop bogging down and miss firing. Found out that there is rust in the gas tank. I have been doing some reading and seems that I can source a new tank fairly easily and it doesnt seem to be to big of job to do. Im concerned though that if I replace the tank the fuel lines could be full of rust as well. Im thinking that i can replace the tank and blow out the lines with an air compressor, start the pump so it pumps gas through the lines into a bucket for a little while to get out what didnt blow out. Then watch and change the filter frequently for awhile to see if it gets better.
Anyone have any experience with this? Any suggestions? I dont want to spend a **** load of money on the car but I definitely dont want to get rid of it because of something like this.. Still researching fuel cells....
Thanks

Just drop the tank, blow the lines out (having the filter ends disconnected), try and get some liquid in there (maybe less flammable like fuel cleaner), purge/blow it out, put it back together. Change your filter after about 100 miles or so then again at 1k - then go back to your regularly scheduled program.
I would pull the fuel rail as well - maybe even get the injectors sonic cleaned.

ok I cannot figure out how to get these banjo bolts to come out on the fuel pump. I got everything else ready to drop the tank and its about to come out, I just dont want to rip the lines. Id cut them but I dont know how to reconnect the hoses to the metal lines??? any help? ps i know im a tard
I assume you mean the banjo bolt on the sending unit? It's simple just loosen it. Are you weak? The others just slide off. Get yourself a cheater bar or use multiple combinations if you have to.
no not weak just stupid. I got it out It was one pipe i forgot to disconnect everything is out now. Total time 1.5 hours should have looked at more pics lol. I need a new pump hanger assembly majestic doesnt have it any suppliers? Id rather not by the whole kit because im going to up grade the pump while its out.

dble posting here but.... is there another pump and bracket assembly that will fit? i thought all 88-91 stuff was the same. Majestic has it listed for an 89 but not 88... Can I use a different part on it? Advance has the whole bracket and pump assembly for 175. Id like to upgrade but i want to drive as well???
