.. Do You remember when you first signed up here on Honda-Tech.com? I do.. and it was very welcoming at the time..
A long time ago a buddy set me up on here, Registered.. set up my account, all that jazz.. I've been here since.. Started at 14-15 years old. I did not know everything and still do not.
Remember that we all had to start at one point, I notice a lot of you all being overly harsh on some of the newer members and flaming.. While I do not agree with unnecessary flaming, but if you don't exactly plan on being mr. nice guy, you could at least give them an educational lesson on how things work around here.. give them more of a warm welcome, rather than rude *** crass remarks.. and understand where they might be coming from.. Just now getting there first car, etc
And as always if you see something out of place or classifieds.. Report the posts with this icon ''
''
*ALSO* If you take the time to tell someone to Search or link them to Search.. please link them to a thread you found searching, it's proof that searching works.. and if it's a repeated topic.. report it, pm me, whatever.. I will come behind you and lock it.
Remember it is important that we help the younger generation and help educate them as they join this Hobby and post on these forum's with us..
Cheers fella's

younger generation = hack the ps and abs, lower the car as far as possible. drive in vtec 24-7, blow up car, do hack fix to part that broke, drive again, try to sell the car for more than it's worth, repeat cycle

I don't mind helping when I can or if I have knowledge of the situation. I love working on cars period. The thing I can't stand is the younger generations grammar issues. I can't understand about half the things they say sometimes. No punctuation and everything runs together. But I do agree with you though. I have gotten alot of help on this website and I would like to give back as much as I can.
I'm only 17, but I still try to help people out when I can. I do remember when I signed up for Honda-Tech because it really wasn't that long ago. It was mostly a warm welcome with the typical flaming that goes on, but that was fine with me. As a result of the flaming, I learned quick.
Should we help out new members? Yes, of course we should, but should we spoon feed them information that we had to search for and find? No. Why? Because if people are constantly fed information they will never learn to figure out things on their own.
Honestly, the best thing that ever happended to me on this fourm was getting completely bitched out by a couple of the older members. As a result, I learned that sometimes you are better off searching google or what have you as opposed to making a thread. Most of the time you will find the answer to your question in a couple minutes.
I do think we will all agree that if you read a thread made by a new member, and it seems way off the wall, you will tend to shy away from it because you would have to more or less change their entire thinking.

Yes I remember when I joined and got flamed for asking a simple question. Like how to launch with out breaking everything.
I also have yet to figure out the search on this site.
However I am glad I joined this site and have learned some things even though I'm not a joungster.

Here is a great link on How to Search: https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-6/how-use-honda-tech-search-engine-2585253/
When I First signed up for Honda Tech. it was before i Signed up for my local forum.
I Didn't Know jack.
I wasn't really in to looks or lowering my civic. Just performance for Auto X.
I Didn't really do alot of posting at first.
I snooped around all the forums in honda tech. and Read every ones problem and fixs and I learned alot from reading all that.
Now I Know a lot.
Noob suggestions: When you have free time read threads all around Honda - Tech for about a week and you will learn a lot.

Been a member since 2006 right after High School and didn't know anything about cars. Now I'm the one that everyone comes to.
Google is what I use, I never use the H-T search.

I have to agree with hondaluver19 about grammar and punctuation, and it's not just the younger members.
The ones I hate the most are the one long sentence that should be 2-3 paragraphs.
A close second is spelling, it would be first but I sympathize as I am a terrible speller myself, and sometimes it is just a typo, however, H/T has a spell check, Google has even a better one.
I recommend everyone install the Google toolbar and use the spell check, even if you know how to spell, it will pick up the typos.
I will always try and help, probably more then I should, [spoon feeding] I know searching can sometimes be frustrating, so sometimes you will see a "Your Google search found this" with a link to relevant material.94
FYI the above post used 5 Google spell checks 6 if you count the last one before posting.

in regards to the searching function also. When I first joined I really had no problem using it. Most of the stuff I searched for I found. But then it seemed like everytime i searched all I could find was other peoples searches that the only thing in them was the question and then somebody telling them to search. Still love the site though.
There were a lot more informed members that were helpful. Too many ignorant people that can't help themselves these days.
I remember when I first joined. I remember my first time I got my panties in a bunch by a ricer who called me a ricer. Lol, good times. I try to help out and there with new guys and gals, but sometimes you can determine what kind of person they will end up becoming by what they are asking for. I am glad I am here though. I could be out there at MAPerformance's deal at Brainerd right now, but you know, I luv dis plaze.....

signed up 3 years ago because i was helping a buddy of mine at the time do a HG job on his Si lol. never touched a honda before but i am glad now that i did. they arae cool little cars.i agree team integra is srict but there are a bunch of smart guys on there as well. but some times i kind of get pissed when no one even bothers to help me. like ive asked for some help picking full CO's for my teggy but no one helps!! im still undecided lol.
i signed up to sell ****. i always protested HT because most people were douche bags, then i realized i was a douche bag just the same as everyone else on here so i started posting more frequently.
some of those guys are just waaaay out in space
I was kinda surprised by how little activity there is here after my 1 yr hiatus.
some noob comes on, asks a question everyone knows. he gets flamed and never returns. that site literally killed itself
I was probably 13yrs old when I would just surf through the pictures just to day dream of how I would build my car and now that I'm 20 years old I use H-T to sell parts locally and get tips and tricks for my car lol.
Ps. I like the old H-T better before this vBulletin crap.

Yeah, if not for HT, I would find it a lot harder to "personalize" my car. I pretty well discovered JDM here.
P.S. What is vBulletin and how does it compare to the old forum?
