Default OT- I have my R for daily driving and want to...

Ok, My dad and I want to start some kind of project we can work on whenever I am home. I was thinking about a crx or civic hatch and making a track *****. If you guys could start a low budget project, what would you try? Ryan

I'd prefer an engine that weighs less than the chassis it resides in.

Get a first gen CRX, blow the engine and let it sit for an ungodly amount of time.

Oh wait, someone else already did that.

In all seriousness, build a first gen CRX.

Low budget! haha, not your dream projects! Anyway, I found a 88 Crx shell with nothing except suspension and wheels for 200. What do you guys think? Good chassis to start with? Thanks, Ryan

Don't build an EG hybrid...then you'll just do what I did and dump a bunch of $$ into it and love it. Then you might even trade the ITR for a WRX because of theft/vandalism and because the WRX has AWD for those shitty midwest winters. I also might want to mention the ease of modding and getting damn good gains with a turbo'd car from the factory. God forbid you start building an old muscle car too!!!

Heres pics of the shell I might get for $200. Is it doable(over say 2 years) to make this thing fast and handle?

btw.. The suspension is not on the car in the pics, its sitting with nothing on it.

Yeah, I'll get back to it one of these days (I did put 273K miles on it).
I was just thinking about it again today, and how I'd like something in S2K's Spa Yellow.

Got some 27mm torsion bars for it a while back, RS teg parts car, most of a Drag II kit, Torsen, most of a cage.
Thing is, I want to put all that in the 85 CRX Si, instead of the 87 with no motor!

First Gen Rocco. 1700 pounds with driver and a tank of gas (less with non glass windows)and a slightly modded 180hp 16V. Or an old REX (RX7).

I probably wouldn't if I didn't already own 2 at the moment (bought the 87 new).
