Icon2 Will a broken shift lock solenoid, make my brake lights not work?

1990 Honda Civic EX. Brake lights were not working, and Shift Lock had to be manually opened in order to work the gear shift lever. I replaced the brake light bulbs, checked the fuse, it was good. Still no brake lights. I replaced the brake light switch. Still no brakes.

Question: Will a broken shift lock solenoid make the brake lights not work? Will fixing the solenoid, make the brake lights work?

In the meantime, I've pulled the solenoid out, but can't find anyone who carries a replacement solenoid, so I'm gonna start hitting salvage yards.

Any insight on any connection between a broken shift lock solenoid and no brake lights would be greatly appreciated.

What was the resolution to your problem? My '04 Accord is exhibiting the same symptoms! Doesn't mean it is the same fix, but it is a start!
