A/C issue - Freon can held upside down
So a buddy said he would refill my a/c on my car because it kept short cycling and blowing warm. He stopped by and when I came out, he was finishing up, and I noticed the can was upside down when he was about done. I thought nothing of it but now the car is warm....like outside warm humid air (the beautiful midwest). He said the can was empty when I saw him holding it upside down and he said he closed the can off but something doesn't add up. The car is now blowing warm air and when the a/c engages the car literally feels like I tapped the brakes. I dont want to go back and argue with my friend about this more, so what should I do? Drain the whole system, buy a kit, and do it myself the right way? I want to fix ti before the system is totally damaged.
It is possible he overcharged it, the right way would have been to recover what ever was left in the system, do a nitrogen pressure test, put it on a vacuum pump for 45min. to 1hr and then charge it with the correct amount of refrigerant, [R134a]. 94
im guessing you have a leak. when you finish off a bottle of refrigerant the instructions tell you to turn the can upside down to get it all in your ac system.
if the gauge was reading correctly and you put in refrigerant within a safe reading then theres another issue elsewhere

overcharge.. very possible, but the right thing to do would have been to do a full vaccum of the freon and do a pressure test. but and overcharge could be highly possible. causeing the system to have to much pressure and have it start to act up. especially give you a rough time.
yeah sounds like classic overcharging i would take it to professionals you will prolly get the best resluts after a vaccum and recharge.
