Anyone lowered on 195/55/15's?
sup guys, looking for some insight on running 55 series tires on the teg. I own a 00 4dr gsr. currently i'm running sumitomo htr's 205/50/15 and its time for some new rubbers. i bought my integra 4 years ago bone stock and right off the bat i lowered it with some ground controls and kyb agx's and started running 205/50's. so i've never been lowered with stock size tires. i've recently moved to oklahoma for work and the area i live in has the worst roads. my suspension is getting beat down and already need to replace one of my skunk2 uca ball joints. so i was thinking since i'm in need of new tires why not get something with more side walls to absorb some of the abuse. at the moment i am pretty low, i would say about a finger between tire and fender. i would like to keep the gap about the same with the oem size tires, i'd adjust the coilovers keep the clearance. but would i be rubbing with that amount of clearance? by the way i plan on purchasing some yokohama s drives. thanks for any input.
Actually its not gunna b much different then what u already have my friend....see although your going with a 55 series tire versus a 50 series. The secound number is noothing but a percentage of the first....so because ur going with a smaller width, the sidewall heigh will be almost exactly the same.... when reading a tire size the first number is the width in mm the second number is a percentage of the first and then last is the rim. Hopefully that helps

Thanks bro I know how to read tire dimensions. It's just I've seen 195/55's before on another teg and they just looked thicker than my 205/50's. Although he was not lowered like me. So? But even if their just a little bit more thicker I'll take all the help I can get with these effed up roads. Plus their cheaper! Lol
Thanks for the input plus the pic for reference. Clean teg!!! I'll post pics of mine once I get the new rubbers.
I'm on the same dimensions. I'm not drastically lowered like my first teg was.. I think I'm maybe 1.5 or 2" lower. I'm still maintaining a 2in-ish gap... I have bfg as well, on blades, no issues whatsoever. On my girls phone so I can't link, but I have pics (they shower clearance/gap) in my 'garage' here.
Link to second (its huge, dont wanna distort thread)

the difference in sidewall thickness is you gain about 7mm with the 195s. im personally runnin some 195/55/15 falken 502s on rota slips and i had to take off my mudflaps cause they touched the ground. i have the occasional fender well rub when im coming up my driveway but thats about it. im cambered in a lil bit but for the height your looking for you should be fine
Jimmy what is your ride height? Do you have a guess on how much drop?
this is what i have 15x7 on 195/55/15

camber is in spec (-.02) and these are 15x7 inch rims which is 1 inch wider and add 10mm due to the offset. i barely rub..after a few things: removing front top fender clips and using a baseball bat to roll the rear fenders(not flaring it out)
