Default no vtec engagement in civic w/ h22 swap NEED HELP!!!!

Im posting this for a friend. He has a civic dx hb with h22 swap. Worked great for a while then he shifted from 3rd to 2nd instead of to 4th and revved to 9k with no valve train upgrade. After that vtec started engaging only sometimes and sometimes not at all and sometimes it has irratic kick in at various rpm 5200, 5300, 5500....he is throwing check code for vtec pressure switch. He bought a new switch and that didn't fix it. Then he'd try something else and it would work off the bat but after a few hours it would stop working again. HELP!!! Any ideas?

vtec solenoid has been checked and rechecked and it checks out ok. I suggested replacing it anyway but that would probably be just a waste. Exact check code is for vtec pressure switch according to him. Oil is full. Running out of ideas....anyone?

Are you sure theres not valve train damage? Sometimes that happens on h22 swaps. Make sure there is a bracket in the engine bay near the firewall to hold the shift cables in the right position. A lot of time I see installs without that bracket. It causes mishifts and bent valves.

If that sensor is clogged it wont read pressure, no more vtec. If he's throwing a code for VTM that means its not reading pressure. You chould remove the solenoid and clean the screen and the hole on the end of the sensor. It just may be clogged. If there is metal particals, I would change the oil and check it out.
