Default Greddy Turbo price check

A guy is selling a greddy turbo td05-18g. evidently "great condition greddy turbo. no shaft play" He is selling it to me for 320 is that a good price? How can i tell if its fake or not? if its in good condition or no? Has an 8lb spring and it came out of his prelude that had an h22.

Should i buy it?

Thanks for the help and info!

$320 isn't bad if its the real Td05h-18G. (there were no chinese knock-offs of this turbo because they are pretty uniquely configured.

Whether or not you should buy it really depends upon your application. Meaning if you plan on staying under 400whp, if you want to use an integrated wastegate or not, or if you want to have the downpipe custom made or use the downpipe adapter and downpipe that comes with it. We can't really decide for you, so use care.

I was planning to do a 7psi daily drive boost so it sounds just about right to have this turbo. What else would i need to get with this turbo? do i need a greddy manifold or any t3 should work with it.

Theres also a garrett t3/t4 turbo 50 trim compressor, hotside .50ar im looking at and his starting price is at 270 with 8k miles on it. Which would be a better way? im not trying to go over 400hp.

Greddy uses a T2 based flanged (though it looks like a T3 inlet) and your manifold must be setup for internal gate, such as a Greddy or an old HKS. Worse case scenario is you would have one made. in a log style.

The T3/T04E 50 trim compressor wheel is about 49lbs/min, vs about 41lbs/min for the 18G. Both are responsive fun turbos.

Ohh hmm because i found a greddy manifold i can get for probabaly 100 or less. How would i be able to tell if the garrett was fake or is in need of a rebuild.

THe knockoff kings didn't bother to try and copy GReddy Turbos. They were too hybridized. DO the usual checks for radial and axial play, oil drainage, etc. After that, caveat emptor

What's your definition of "cheap"? (what is your maximum willingness to pay?) The cheaper you go, the fewer options you have outside of a junkyard, which is not a good idea. As for Godspeed, caveat emptor.

Hmm i dont really know much about turbo prices but im not looking for the BEST turbo or want to have the WORST. Decent price for its capability. Do you get what im saying? right price for the right thing? Just as long as im not spending like 1g on just a turbo itself ha. Is godspeed risky?
Theres a garrett kit on clist here in wa i found for 600 might take a look at it. But if you dont mind help me by suggesting some turbo sizes? trim? brands?

That's hard to do, because once again, you're a bit in limbo as to what you're willing to spend. Turbos with similar airflow characteristics can go from $700-$1000 depending upon the rest of the setup.. Such as your exhaust manifold (if its made to fit a 5 bolt ford style Downpipe), to whether or not you're keeping A/C, even issues of repair and replacability come as a factor. Everyone wants the best of every world, but its not going to happen unless you have some goals in mind. What are you doing with the car? Street/strip? circuit? Street fighter only? Only YOU can answer these questions. (And for god's sake, no E.Ts to determine which turbo can work, k?). Ride in a few cars, have a budget, or at least an idea of what you're trying to go with this. We all could name drop a ton of turbocharger companies, but if you have no idea as to what your budget calls for (I suggest over $650), then it doesn't matter, because you'll still be confused

Yes, Godspeed is risky, EMUSA is risky, as is SSAUTOCROME and JDMTURBO (or whatever they call it). There are threads that show that these are extremely hit or miss turbochargers for any longevity, ( and no, 1 year is not a long time by any means), so caveat emptor. If in doubt, check even the quality USED units on the Hondamarketplace or something.

We're not clarivoyant, so the more specific in your descriptions you are, the better we can help.

I got my 18g for $80, it did need a rebuild which was minor to do. As The Shodan have said so far the t3/t4 50 trim and 18g turbos are responsive turbos. If you don't plan to boost more then 10 psi the 18g is plenty for what you want in a turbo.

BTW I'm glad the king of knockoffs didn't copy this turbo for once

fast
reliable
cheap

Pick 2 and the 3rd is what its not..

godspeed turbos are knockoff turbos just like a majority of their parts.. Im sure it will work, but dont expect alot as far as quality.

I think you have a lot to learn about turbos and boosting your honda in general. Might want to learn a compressor map and figure out your power goals..

Your tuner will will decide whats safe to run and to what XXXwhp your going to get..

Another question sorry.. some guy is selling me a full greddy turbo kit. Info: Has all the piping (for EG), couplers (most say greddy on them), BOV, turbo (freshly rebuilt td04) greddy turbo manifold, greddy down pipe, oil feed and return lines. Evo 560cc injectors, OBX-R boost gauge.
Would the piping fit in my ek? and he said that greddy doesnt sell rebuild kits so he bought one from a website. He is letting this go to me for 500. It has only 100 miles since the rebuild. Is it worth it?

Umm. no. for a TD04? Not if its for a VTEC B-series engine. That's a waste of time. A d-series engine would be more applicable. You were better off with the 18G. Greddy never sold rebuild kits. Those were a Mitsubishi cartridge using a Garrett turbine wheel & housing. So god only knows what he put in there. Get specific as to what "rebuild" kit he installed.

this was my point about overpriced CL in another thread

a new garrett 50 trim with a 4bolt is around $650

you can get the entire precision entry line for $599 new with a 4 or 5 bolt. that's 57 trims like the 3431e and more.
