I damaged 1 of the 2 metal rings (bronze in picture) in the middle does anyone know if those being bent or not flush would cause any problems?

Does the auto intermediate shaft have the same rings?

Its more of a dust cover then anything major. I would just try to bend it back to somewhat normal.

 

That is what I was thinking the same thing, but wasn't sure if it being out of shape would cause problems.

 

IDK about the 5th gen, but 4th gen auto there is no intermediate shaft, the cv axle is just that much longer. I bought my intermediate shaft used when I did my 5spd swap, and that cover was bent also. Took a hammer and brass drift punch and beat it back into shape.

 

if i am thinking of the same washer type ring on the end of the half shaft, then yea just bend it back to normal, they all end up bending from storage usually but its no big deal, just re flatten it and youre good to go

 

Mine is trashed from being dropped on its side.

My auto has the same rings so I am going to steal them from it.
