Default Brake Pads

My front brake pads on my '89 CRX HF are squeeling. I want to replace them with something better than OEM... but what? I want something that is low dusting, hard stopping, long lasting. Any ideas?

Try "Performance Friction Carbon Metallic" from Autozone or PepBoys. About $40.

I tried aftermarket pads once. I went back to OEM. The dust is not severe in my experience. The compound is correct for the stock rotors. They come with the proper grease and shims. They provide original stopping power. In short, they work better than the other 'performance' pads I tried.

this combo will be tough to find. hard stopping dusts alot and doesn't last super long. low dusting and long lasting means less stopping power. so you are gonna have to compromise somewhere...or go back to OEM.

EBC Greenstuff pads; less dust, more stopping power.

You will see these in European car mags all the time, but you might want to check availabilty for your application.
I did find them for my '91 Si, though.

good luck

I heard the EBC Greens dust really bad, so I checked on the Hawk, but can't find an application to fit.

What fits my car? It's an '89 CRX HF, will DX or Si fit?

fyi, the hawks dust alot.

according to this page:
http://www.crxsi.com/specs.htm
the HF has smaller diameter rotors than the dx/si.

I know you bought your car with the ZC already installed. That being said there is a chance that someone may have upgraded to the Si or DX brakes. Since the Si, DX and HF all use diferent pads (depending on the year - some do interchange) you may have to pull out the pads and take them with you to make sure you get the right thing.
